Hi, Frank !

I took your suggestion and started a new thread.

So, to get things started . . . How about a "Starship Of David", from the Mel Brooks movie "The End Of The World - Part 1" ?

If you accept my "challenge", I will send your the data you would need to design this model ( sufficient to make accurate "patterns" ) . . . Send me an email !

Here is my email address : [email protected]

That would be perfect for a saucer, maybe with a clear center or with two outboard angled motors to make it spin......Who is the saucer master here?

Yokosuka MXY-7 "Ohka" : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yokos

John boren build a big RC Betty bomber with an okha he could drop but I don't know if he ever finished it, the wing is really far forward and very small...

I actually have plans for a version of this aircraft from the Powered Slope Soaring Association in the UK. About a 40" wingspan, powered by four D engines. 😲

Hi, Chuck !

I am envisioning a jettison-able, forward tube assembly ( for Boost Stability ), which would leave the "Bird Of Prey" to be piloted to the ground, via RC !

The up part of the flight will be fun.

Can you make this?
Pterodactyl - the original bird of prey.

the bird of prey is going to be tough for any disc shaped or semi oval shaped the CG is going to be at about the 25% point of the cord which is pretty far forward, so any rear-mounted engine is going to make it extremely tail heavy, even if just as a glider you're going to have problems with yaw stability, you got those forward swept fairly large warp engines almost ahead of the leading edge at the front, and the spine fin is pretty small..

Keep em coming, don't feel bad if I don't decide to build yours or any of them for that matter, I need to be really grabbed by a design, plus I don't feel like doing built up fuselages, so swoopy fronts, I can't do justice to, like I did my Mig 25 it looks good but an SU-27 would look stupid because the swoopy nose is so fundamental to the design. For the low boom SST, I just HATE that shape, too many damn pointing things jutting off of it, plus I seem to be stuck in the 60's.....A boeing 2707 I might get behind, with fixed wing sweep, I always like that, but this is a fun thread....

Dave F. I did do one back in the day as a mid-rear mounted pusher electric, it had some odd tendencies, needed up trim or washout to be stable, and the elevons angled back aren't very pitch effective, especially when nose heavy as in a rocket glider after burnout, which is why most models of it, like the plans you show and the upcoming Northcoast kit don't go with a scale wing sweep, here is the bottom of my plane done in a special retirement scheme for the air force as you show in flight.... It also has a pretty high front/lateral area which requires larger vertical stabs sometimes relative to cg...flag.jpg[/QUOTE]

Frank,

How about an internal, sliding Ballast Weight, deployed at Apogee, to alter the Boost CG to the Glide CG ?

There is also the F117N / F117X SEAHAWK version . . .
