That's a good idea!! It would be cools to see everyone else's setup.
Rabid: I heard the same from my Mom when I was younger... but it was all about the wooden desk I built my rockets on. She refinished it for me. Well, she was right. I pretty much screwed up the top. This desk is now in my basement in the photo of my design area, under the computer!!
My secret was this: When my wife and I looked for a house, I made sure we purchased one with an unfinished basement. An unfinished basement is mine. A finished one would have been hers to decorate, etc.
Jim: You actually inspired me!! About a dozen of the fleet are my original rockets from when I was a kid. The rest are a mix of clones, newly built offerings from Fliskits and other small companies, some scratchbuilds, and a few newly built vintage rockets.
As for cleaning. I fill need to re-sort, pick up, and throw out a tone of stuff every 4-6 months. Moving into this little front room was a big step in that direction. To the right of my drillpress, I have my table top belt/disc sander, a 4" 1/4hp table saw, and a scroll saw. I have all of my hobby tools in the cabinet below the saws, and that helps keep the clutter to a minimum. The tables, desks, and cabinets are all old furniture that I grabbed for cheap at garage sales, from relatives, and from my own kitchen during an 'upgrade'.
The really weak area... still, is the 'paint booth' This spring I will work up a fan/dryer hose through the window.
