I wish their shock cord was wide elastic like the original PS II rockets instead of rubber.
Also a kevlar leader like the BB XII would have been good.
So I made those mods. At $65 they should have been stock items.

The good news is there are lots of good options for plywood fins already. Just kind of sad that a $65 rocket left the factory with balsa two piece fins.

Random thoughts on The Great Goblin. Full disclosure: I haven’t pull the trigger on this one yet.
The original Goblin was always susceptible to fin breakage. Relatively long span and slight rearward taper design equals rough times for the fins. I’d expect the same at any scale.
As for plywood and Estes, if I remember correctly the PSII’s Chinese plywood caused all kinds of headaches when the State of California found it harmful to their delicate palates. There may be other supply chain issues or cost issues that caused Estes to drop ply IDK.

If one is set up for fiberglass, might be worth just glassing the stock fins instead of buying plywood. The centering rings should be fine if the fins are epoxied and filleted.

Here's what a Great Goblin looks like with 1" cut off the BT, and the bottom 1" of the NC painted to match the BT. Makes the upscale much closer than stock:

Those fins should be basswood ply at a minimum. Fins are too big for balsa IMHO. For $65 that'll be a no from me dawg.

Erockets has it (only one in stock now), but at the same price as Estes.
