    Gone Too Long

Been away from here and other rocketry related stuff too long. First we lost our local launch site and the club seems to have disbanded (SARG). Second I have moved. Still in the greater Sacramento area (Lincoln) but that kept me busy for a bit. Third, my wife lost her job (boss retired with no...

    Biohazard

Latest completed project. It is a kit (also named Biohazard) from a long out of business company called Quasar One. A local shop here in Sacramento (RC Country & Hobbies) purchased all of the kits from this company (or so I was told) and sells them now. This was basically unmodified except...

TCC (Central California near Fresno) 1/18/14

It was a great day to launch. Here are a few pics of my sons ... These are of my son Ben with his recently completed Estes Tomcat. All but the canopy paint was finished. It was the first flight for this very complicated kit. Unfortunately though we did not have the recommended C6-3 and the...

Yes ... yes it will. If you have a Big daddy cluster with a D12-5 and (4) C6-5.

    Tripoli Central California

Anybody know the 2014 launch schedule? Their website https://tccrockets.com/ does not have the new schedule posted and the site has not been updated since November. Given that SARG (https://www.sargrocket.org/) has lost its field and LUNAR (https://www.lunar.org/) has not launched in...

    Having Withdrawals ...

Have not launched a single thing since May 2013. All local launches (LUNAR and SARG) have been cancelled since September due to lack of rain. Yes LACK of rain ... the fields are too dry. And, recently found out the local club SARG has lost the field we launched on due to developers. <rant over>

    Sad Day for SARG

Here is the email I just received from Skip Meyer SARG president: Hello SARG Rocketeers, The SARG launch planned for this Saturday, December 14, 2013 has been cancelled. Unfortunately, I must also inform you that SARG has lost the use of our current launch site. As such, all further...

    LOC Onyx

Anyone know the proper CG for this kit? Looked on LOC we site and the instructions provided and nothing. Making some modifications (longer mm, rail buttons etc. And want to be sure the CG is still within acceptable limits. Thanks :)

    Estes Pro Series Argent Mods?

About to start this kit. Was thinking of cutting ends off the plastic transition and making it a baffle system. Or placing a baffle just aft of the transition. I would either make it a traditional NC separation or zipper less. Also putting in a longer MM tube and 10/10 rail buttons...

    Flight Data Record Sheet?

Been looking around here and have not found anything. Search has never been my friend .... Wanting to keep a record for flights of our rockets for future reference. Mostly for motor/delay selection but also want to record speed and altitude etc as I will be getting an altimeter soon...

    MadCow Big Fizz OR File?

Just starting to play around with OR. In fact my son (13) and I downloaded it for the first time to do a science fair project on rocketry. He got high praise from his teachers :) Anyway ... I was wondering if there is a resource for downloading files for specific kits out there. I have MC Big...

    Fat Boy Cluster

Which should I do .... D and (4) C or (7) C cluster for this kit? The first is 142g in motor weight whereas the second is 170g in weight. With this small kit I am leaning toward the D and (4) C plus easier to ignite. Thoughts? Regardless of your preference which motors should I use too? Thanks

    4x18mm 1x24mm Big Daddy

I am pondering this modification and was wondering if I would need to add some nose weight. If so would it be the same weight I have added to the rear (ie the weight of 4x18mm motors) or something different? Thanks

    CG Question

Almost done with my Madcow Skipper. Instructions say the CG should be 32.25 from nose tip. I measured and marked, loaded a casing and motor bigger (heavier) than I anticipate using and put in the recovery as well. Balanced the rocket and its balance point is a good 3-4 inches further forward...

    Tight Fit

Last week at October Skies I decided to use my 29/240 case for the first time. When I wen tot load the grains and liner it would not fit. Even with a generous amount of lube the liner would get stuck approximately 1/3 to 1/2 way into the case. Luckily I was able to pull it out and clean...
