I send my condolences to him and his family.

He helped me out by answering several questions I had about getting into HPR, he always was very resourceful and knowledgeable.

    Thanks,

This is just very sad news. Mark was a great guy always willing to help out anyone. He has been flying with TWA for close to 20 years or more. He did a lot for our hobby that most of us will never know. I will is his great laugh.

    Rest in peace Mark

Very sad to hear about Mark. I believe we met at the LDRS at Bong, but I've known of his work and contribution to hobby rocketry for years. Everyone who flies rockets has been directly or indirectly touched by Mark's dedication to the hobby. He will be missed. My thoughts and condolences to his family and close friends. The rocketry community mourns the loss of our colleague and friend. Godspeed traveler.

I’m very sorry to learn of Mark’s passing. Like Aaron, Mark and I first met (online) when we were moderators at Rocketry Planet. I’ve spoken with him on the phone many times, including trading pictures of our kids and discussing rocketry. My most recent visit was in August when I called him because I could tell he just wasn’t feeling well. We both looked forward to crossing paths with each other sometime and shooting the bull. He was also a big help with TMT, as the person who specialized in sending certification letters. I’ll miss you, Mark.

It has been a season of loss and passing in the circle of my acquaintance. RIP, Mr. Koelsch. Condolences to all who knew and loved you. A bittersweet reminder to enjoy every day as if it could be your last, build rockets, fly them, and love all the wonders of flight. Ad Astra, fellow rocketeer.

Stunned and speechless. A wonderfully nice guy and a huge supporter to HPR especially with his TMT efforts.
Prayers for his family and a snappy salute to his contributions.

Mark also hosted his own website, Rocketryfiles.org, where he collected articles from other websites that have gone away as well as content he added. He did an unsung ton to prevent the loss of past websites. I don’t think any one of us is fully knowledgeable about all the different things he did, any one of which was extremely useful.

Ugh....what a kick to the gut. Will miss Mark a lot! As others have said, super friendly, helpful, and great to be around. I really enjoyed having him around the TWA launches this year! There were years when he didn't make it to many launches; I'm happy that we crossed paths several times in 2018. Really bummed we won't see each other again, for a while. :(

Kevin H. captured a few long time Bong boys trying to be serious earlier this year. Mark, Carl, and a guy in an ugly shirt...I'll miss these times darnit! Good times!

    Rest in peace, my friend!

When I read Mark has passed, I actually felt the hit. Having known Mark since I began to fly with QCRS at Bong & Princeton. We talked on regular basis over the years since he moderated on ROL. Always happy to help out with class 3 waivers and he seemed to love doing sims for extreme flights. His skills at dealing with all the dull boring paperwork needed to keep Tripoli and Thrust curve motors up to date will be sorely missed. Heck we planned to catch up at MWP last week, but he did't make it.

God speed steely eyed missile man!:)

I remember Mark contributed when I got smacked by the "Stealh rocket of Doom". Payed it back today. I hope it helps in some small way.

While driving home last from work, it hit even harder. As long as I have known Mark, I would say the greater percentage of our conversations related more to family, daughters, work, and life, even more so than rocketry. There are some meaningful and impactful conversations he and I had over many years. Those conversations will be sincerely missed.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I dealt with Mark a lot with CAR Motor testing information. Several years ago, I would get the raw data from CAR and make the curves. Then I would pass them on to Mark and others. Mark was such a solid guy and very nice to deal with. I'll miss him. Rest in peace Mark.

I'm happy to see the gofundme has exceeded it's original limit and that there are many familiar rocket names that helped that happen.
