Looking at similar motors I’m thinking she will do about 11,000’ on the new Aerotech L1940X
would be pushing the limits of the field in culpeper. But then, I think that’s what she was designed for ; - )

I agree, 11,000 would be pushing things a bit at BattlePark, but if you don't get go-fever and use smaller motors until just the right day, it's definitely doable!

And I'll be watching how it recovers. I got the Blue Baboon One I think will do the same on a Pro54 6G motor.

Yea, agree Handeman, though last season had two days where I would have tried it if I had it...

See myself flying her on a lot of large K motors. Will likely invest in a Loki hardware to match : - )

Shot the gloss white on the booster. Not going to say it’s flawless, but it’s darn good! No need for a second coat. Will let this cure for a week then mask off the fins and spray them.

Note, I am not a painter, but I do like my rockets to look good. That said, I am VERY happy with where this is so far:

Working with Mark at stickershock23 on the decals. Will spray the red on the fin once they arrive. Want the reds to match as close as I can.

Spent some quality time with the miter box and drill press.

happy with the layout. Need to nail down the location of the switches and get the tubes adhered to the sides.

in related news the 10’ chute from rocket man arrived. Have everything I need to complete her. Just need to get it done!!!

Can call the electronics bay 110% complete!

borrowed the design I used on a previous build “EX-1127” for the sled and switch location:

both switches are easily accessed through a single static port:

the bulkheads. 3.5 gram charge wells and a standard well nut to secure/seal the e-match pass through:

together. Note the larger washer on the back side of the bulkhead for better stress distribution

All put together and ready to put in work:

Also started laying out the recovery system. Standard layout here. 2’ drogue with a 10’ main. Nylon for the booster harness and Kevlar for the main in the payload. Nomex blankets protect both sides:

Wrapped up the recovery system. Happy to say that the everything fits as expected. That 10’ chute and 30’ of Kevlar take up some space, but all is good.

she comes in at almost exactly 17.5pounds w/o and motor hardware

only question left is which motor for the shake down flight?

odds are it will be the 1100 :)

What’s the estimated altitude? Can't wait until the season starts!

Why the nylon harness o the booster? Zipper prevention? Is the main parachute a nylon or kevlar harness. Working the Honest John plan and in aviation we always learn from others experience or mistakes. It saves money and lives.

That rocket is looking great. My vote is on the J1799 for the shakedown.

Wrapping up a few items that I spoke too but never followed up on.

The rail buttons with their stand offs came out exactly as designed. Secured with a stainless counter sunk screw.

Also to ensure that the harness doesn’t get knotted and all stays secure I installed a 30kn swivel via a 25kn locking carabiner. Confident the knot in the nylon will hold.
