I'm happy to say that we successfully assembled the rocket on the pad today!

I'll post some pictures later, after I feed the kids.

So, today we spent a few hours performing an erection test on the rocket. This means a full vertical assembly of the main stack, allowing us to test out not only the fit of the rocket on the pad, but also the rocket itself.

Since we only had a limited number of team members who could make it up today, John (G2Rockets) and Carmen were kind enough to provide assistance, which was greatly appreciated!

You may have an Insane Project ...

when your neighbors can see your nose cone ...

My first thought was "What do his neighbors think?!?" Then I realized, YOUR neighbors probably don't bat an eyelash...

If putting a small child or farm animal in your rocket...

is not a technical problem, merely an ethical one.

This is a photo of Kevin assuring the neighbors the safety of this redneck contraption and verifying that they have home owners insurance even though he doesn't think they'll need it. Further he explained that due to Budget cuts in the government he has officially been promoted to NASA head Engineer. He also explained that the hole left in the ground at lift off will have little radioactivity and their childrens webbed feet will be the maximum effect for the exposure.

I then showed them a picture of John as an example of what their kids would grow up to be like.

They burst into tears....

I can't help that I grew up under high voltage power lines. At least it didn't affect my genetic transfer... or maybe it did.:D

Ahh missed it. What show was it on? I'll try to hit a rerun.

I'm guessing you will give us all a heads up before it does air so we can set our DVRs?

If it doesn't end up on the cutting room floor(guess bit bucket now as most shows are recorded/edited digitally nowadays)...Am sure we will get PLENTY of 'heads up' when Discovery gets ready to air the program...

Yeah but what COLOR are you going to paint it. And what brand of paint? I would like to buy some futures in paint tint.

What about about contacting Discovery and asking permission to put their logo all over it? If they say "Yes", it almost guarantees that it will make it into the show.

Considering that I've already spent over 2 hours on the phone with them, I'm not too worried about it...

Whoa, what's wrong with this picture?! It's a full two weeks from when we need to leave for LDRS, and we're not scrambling to get everything done! That's a new experience for us.

Anywho, today the base coat of paint was applied.

I won't reveal the final paint plans, but suffice to say I think everyone will enjoy them. :)

Cool, do you have any pictures of it with primer on? I am a big fan of grey :)
