We have our own section now I created through NAR. Section 855. Ventura Rocketeers. We are working with the city to find a sight for low power flights and to work with the local youth, schools, scouts, STEM and more. Many of the local families here who have children who love rocketry find it a hardship to either travel to ROC (which I'm also a member of) so for for many reasons ranging from affording the time to the cost of gas which is blatantly over priced. I am friends with Verne BTW and he's a member of the Section and contributing.
On my SNG Aero page is a list of members so far but out of 28 local members on the NAR list 20 of them have ignored my emails, some said flat out no.
https://sngaero.wordpress.com/ventura-rocketeers-nar-section-855/ Our first meeting is at 7pm on the 7th of Nov at my studio in Ventura. If you'd like to come to the meeting you can help us with our efforts to create a local site.
In some of the emails I received I was told we should go to Santa Fe. Again it's an hour and a half drive there if theres is no traffic. Return trip is more than 2 hours because there's always heavy traffic. Add to that during the summer it's extremely hot at Santa Fe. Here in Ventura it would be in the 50-60s in the morning at 7 am and by 12pm around 73 at the most.
So join us. Help us reach kids that will one day take their passion for aviation to the stars. If you want a Star Trek Future it begins here. "Pay it forward."
