NERRF'ers:

Please bring small bills ($5 & $10) to registration. Exact change will make registration dramatically faster and easier....

Thanks!

NERRF Pre-Reg closes tonight!!! Please Pre-Register now so we can have your registration packet ready so we can speed things up at the field for everyone. Please also make sure you bring exact change to help speed things up at registration time. It really does help everyone. It helps the volunteers working registration and the rocketeers!!!

Speaking of volunteers...we have a pretty good filling of the volunteer roster. If you have signed up to volunteer -THANK YOU !!! -please check the schedule to make sure you know where you are.

We also have about 70 folks who have pre-registered and not taken a single volunteer shift. :(
Remember...NERRF is put on by volunteers, run by volunteers.... We need everyone!!!
We are short on folks for Sunday especially. Many RSO, range boss and pad manager shifts are open. With 30 to 40 of the folks coming being L2 or above who have not signed up to volunteer yet...we need your help to fill out those RSO shifts and other critical spots. We also need three pad managers, one range boss and two RSO shifts filled for Saturday.
Thanks

Does anyone know if any vendors are going to have BSD kits?

GCH -- The three "retail" kit vendors who will be there are

Hangar 11 (Bobby Buchalski)
Wildman (Tim Lehr)
Performance Hobbies (Ken Allen)

Other mfrs of kits will be there, but I expect that they will carry only there own (Flis, for example). BSD will not be there.

Please shoot a note to the retail guys and ask...

Correction, Ken Allen is Performance Hobbies. I've made this mistake many times.

Don't believe the forecast for the Middletown/ Pine island area.
The weather is very freaky there, it could be raining 1 mile from the filed & not get a drop on the immediate field that we fly from...
Then again it could be the complete opposite as well.

Weather.com has the NERRF forecast! Remember, this is an early forecast and WILL change.

Friday looks good so far. Mostly sunny with a high of 79. 0 percent chance of precip.

Saturday has the exact same forecast. Same high too.

Sunday is a toss-up. The high is 81. There is a 30 percent chance of rain.

Overall it looks pretty good.

Me and the wifey will be there for Friday and Saturday.

Got to make a decision on a few more to bring with me, but I'll have the Tube prototypes with me for sure. Both are painted and ready to go, including the two stage one.

Ok, they're slap painted. But they are painted. Hey, they're prototypes.

T-48 Hours to Setup. T-72 Hours to Launch!!!!

1. Thursday setup begins at about noon. Many will be there well before.

2. Please print some flight cards out and pre-prep them. Save time!

3. Fliers: Please bring $5 and $10 Bills. Exact change will speed registration for everyone.

4. Please Drive Slowly -- 10 MPH!!!! It is a working farm....

5. If you're using a GPS, "1 Gardnerville Road, New Hampton, NY" gets you very close

when does thursday set up end? i'd like to get SOME sleep before i start my 13 hour drive.:)

You can arrive on Friday as early as you like. The field will be mostly setup, except for electronics. We will target to have a flier's meeting by 9:30 and be flying by 10:00, but it may actually be 30 minutes earlier or later.

Please remember -- 10 MPH speed limit on the Farm. Please respect our landowner. This is his home and his business!

Also, fliers: Please bring $5 and $10 Bills. Exact change will speed registration for everyone.

And if you are in the BBQ (or want to sign up) and want change, please bring ninety five cents...

There was mention of FRS radios previously.

Will the LCO launch info be broadcast over FRS?

At NERRF the PA system isn't good enough for the whole crowd. It's too long and spread out. If you're not by one of the few speakers, you don't hear anything. Radio would be nice.

I drove by the launch site today, but I didn't see anything set up. Was I at the right place (I went in by the sign that said "METRA entrance")?

BTW is anyone else staying at the Hampton? :D

If you "just drive by" you won't see anything from the road.
You have to drive in about 1 mile then turn right on the other side of the bridge.....

I'm in Middletown! (days Inn)

everybody PLEASE stop by and say hi tomorrow!

let me know your TRF "handles"

I'll be near the rockettshirts.com banner ;)

We arrived around 2pm and set up a light booth and chatted with some folks. Was great to see Chuck, Glen, Doc and many others (including our very own secret santa! :)

Tomorrow I have some family coming down to visit for a spell.

The range closed early as a thunder burst moved in.

All in all a quiet day 1.

  • The weather was great for day one of NERRF. We shut down at 4 PM for showers, but it was very good for most of the day. The storms were very scattered and random.
