Watching from the air would be cool. I asked on there facebook page if the air space would be open to private airplanes and they never responded to my post. I'm sure there will be active traffic there.
Presuming they are doing this legally.... they need to have an FAA waiver. While the conditions of the waiver *might* allow for aircraft associated with the event to be in the air, in certain places away from the planned trajectory, (aircraft/copters for chase, airborne video platforms, medical team), highly unlikely that any private aircraft not officially part of the event would be allowed.

Did anyone notice that the New Atlas picture gallery has a picture of the recovery system designers, and the photo sure looks like its Ky Michelson the Rocketman himself (scroll down to the 14th picture).
