This update is short and sweet! Sorry to occupy your inbox so soon after our Safety Matters bulletin...

We've been working hard in the engine room of the Starship Deepsky and we think that our new credit card warp drive is just the thing to banish Paypal pain and Nochex nonsense once and for all. We have been testing the HSBC-based credit card facility and it seems to work fine... and lots better than Paypal (which is not saying much). It is VERY secure, too. It's just about as secure as any internet payment channel can be and, of course, our site has 128 bit encryption so it is locked down tight as well.

In a few days you will no longer have to ring us up and read your card numbers to us. If you don't trust your card online, however, you can still call us if you wish on 01582 462720.

Apologies for the very long gestation of this long requested feature. It has taken a heck of a lot of time and effort to undo some blind choices that we made at the outset but, whew, we are almost there. No foolin'. We tried to do it without moving our site off our very satisfactory current hosts but in the end we had to bite the bullet and make the switch.

Within the next few hours we will push the launch button and the global internet gubbins will start pointing to our new site. However, the way things work, the changes have to propagate through the system before everybody gets the New Improved Version. We will put up a notice that will tell you that the work is in progress and hopefully within a day (or two, but maybe three) no one will have to mess about with Paypal or Nochex... but of course if you want to, you still can! And we will still take cheques or postal orders in the post, too. Send us a fax on 01582-462536 if that's your preferred mode!

If you can't get to the shop due to the update process, send email to [email protected] and we will do our best to whisk the best rocket gear in Europe to your doorstep!

If you need something urgently, call the above number or email us.

Now In the Shop

We're stocked up pretty well with everything except D motors. They are still on the boat. Heading this way at a great rate of knots are more Binder Design kits and more PML kits and bits. The Deepsky Mobile Launch Facility is getting ready for its debut: free nitrous for small hybrid motor flyers... at least until we run our 55 litre tank dry. We also have 3 and 5.5 litre tanks FULL for hybrid flyers. They are brand new and certified and quite shiny. Deepsky will be doing nitrous refills soon.

We have a few Estes Space Ship Ones left and a pair of Quest X-15s yet to go. Quest has also introduced the PERFECT rocket for school and club workshops: Bright Hawk.

The new Excelsior Retro Kit Bash packages are in stock and are very cool. We have them all even though they were not all on the old shop - it is amazing what you can do with a Baby Bertha! Art Applewhite's HPR saucers are here, too. We have had two Level 1 certs already take advantage of our money-back offer. If you buy a saucer from us for your L1 cert, we'll rebate half the price of your motor!

If you haven't seen the new Squirrel Works Ajax, take a look. It is certain to appeal to every retro rocket fan. We can't wait for the arrival of the new Estes X-Prize Cosmos Mariner D-powered boost glider - now expected late spring (or maybe early summer given the Estes fudge factor). The Oracle video rocket is expected in the summer now - with a higher spec.

BSD high power kits are back. We are anxiously awaiting some new models in the coming weeks - including a two stage HPR vehicle. We are the exclusive UK dealer for those fine kits!

Please bear with us as we make the web shop closer to what you want.

Team Deepsky

PS If there is something that you need for EARS next Sunday, order it now to be sure we have it with us on the day. Use the email, phone or fax if the site is under reconstruction.

Just as a little extra bonus, the first credit card order to go through the new system will receive a free Estes kit of their choice (the chosen kit must be in stock)
