wife and i have a 2021 40' Montana RV 5th wheel.. and with this comes a truck... not the little guy truck.. yup the F250s and above. we got a service lite triggered the other day and it being a 2018 and the extended service contract up in 8K miles.. we're lookin' new.

so going to the ford dealership today to look at new f250s, and f350s.. and this is the first stop.. at the prices of these big-boy trucks you've gotta do your due-diligence. i've been doing my research.. for pulling, RAM seems to be the best truck, pulling and luxury.. Ford, luxury is GM/Chevrolet. This said, after 35-40 years the big three know there stuff and actually there's not too much difference in the powertrains. when we go rv'ing, we see all trucks, not just Ford or RAM.. just 'sayin

sheesh! have you seen the pricing... lol

Yes, I have looked. Sticker shock is an understatement. I priced a Ford F350 crew cab 4x4. They are well over $100K. I saw that and thought, for a truck!

Let's start at last night. I was at my desk in the garage reading the Forum. My wife sticks her head in and asks if I had just been knocking at the back door. No I haven't. Oh rats. I got my AR 15 SBR and was going to have to look. I got the garage door remote and backed up 20' from the door took the safety off and pointed the rifle at the door. For you non-tactical guys. I did that to give myself room to react if a Zombie was on the other side of the door and it charged me. Then moved closer to the open door. Held the rifle at waist level pointed to the right. Used the pressure switch to turn on the light/laser and looked left and quickly went through the opening and turned around. Scanned the side of the house. To keep this short I won't go into the rest of the search. When I got to the back of the pool I looked toward the house and the male duck was standing 10' from the back door. The Zombie was the duck. I wondered why he was knocking at the door. I didn't see the lady duck. I hoped she wasn't hurt and the male wasn't knocking at the door asking for help. I was relived when I saw her this morning.

Today started like every day has for weeks. I got out of bed, stood up and got dizzy, nauseas and a headache. Stumbled out to my desk and took a handful of pills. A few hours later I had to go to Quest for some blood work. When I got in the chair the tech asked have you been fasting, nuts. I didn't know it was a fasting test. After I got home I remembered I needed gas for the lawn tractor. Put two cans in the back and drove to the gas station. As I was putting gas in a can I looked at the pump to see how much gas I had put in. When I looked I pulled the nozzle out of the can and was spraying gas all over. To make matters worse I forgot to let go of the handle. There was gas on my pants half way up my calf, on my boots, the can and the ground. I got the window squeegee and washed the can and went in and told them I had a fuel spill. I hoped I wouldn't burst in to flame on the way home. I opened all the window and put the fan on high and went home at a high rate of speed. I left the Explorer in the driveway, got the cans out and stripped in the garage. Told my wife what happened. Before I was dressed again she found a way to get gas out of clothes. Isn't the internet wonderful. After the Sun went down and it had cooled outside I was going to bring the car in. Anticipating the bugs that shall remain nameless would be outside the door I got a push broom and opened the door. There wasn't any. In their place was a dozen or more flying grasshoppers. In a couple of seconds 4 flew past me into the garage. We get rid of one infestation and get another. What's next? Hail and frogs. I give up. It was 93 today and it's 62 now. You have to take advantage of the cool air bugs or not. I used to let the cats in the garage every night after dinner. With those nasty black bugs I had to stop that. The cats only know they can't play out here. They cry at the door and it's pitiful. Now with a swarm of flying grasshoppers letting them out would be dangerous. When they chase a flying bug the laugh at gravity and think they can fly. I can't risk one getting hurt so I'm a bad guy and the cats cry at me. And I know what comes after the grasshoppers. As summer progresses we get flies. It's going to be a long summer.

Went to State Trailer supply for a new Load leveler hitch for our flat bed trailer. We are taking it up to Red River, NM to move my Jeep to our property in Southern Colorado. I also picked up a new tongue jack for the cargo trailer. The old one was damaged when the nut on the ball came off and I had to cross four lanes of heavy traffic on I-40...
Then I went to the credit union to pick up some cash. Next up was the grocery store for fresh veggies and milk. Got home in time for a zoom session with our Pilates instructor.

I don't suppose you get Cicadas in the desert? I did not know you had Mallard Ducks there. Of course a Casino in Vegas even has Flamingos in their artificial rain forest surrounding the pools.

We are going to be getting Cicadas this year again, and with them come their predator, the Cicada Killers.

As for your Gas issue, I only have had "Gas Station Shoe" and it was on my way to work. Needless I had an aroma around my work station there for awhile.

this morning i'm having power drawn out to the shop.. my wood/hobbie shop is 35' off the back of the house.. so going to have a direct line, using an extension cord with power drawn from a bedroom which we don't use. we'll use waterproof domes so that if it starts to rain while i'm working... no problems!

looking at new F250's damn expensive.. but we have 40' Montana RV so the truck is a 'need'.. not a 'want'. we've got 150K on our '2018 f250.. and the check engine lite came on (think its the 'fuel injector pressure regulator') Not only this but the extended warranty ends in 8000 miles.. i just checked and i can get an extended warranty for the powertrain, but the electrical addon is like WHAT!! I went yesterday to the local ford dealership and all they had were mostly white trucks.. i've got a white truck, and want the cool lookin' Blue or Red.. We'll see what numbers they come up with..

Yup, I remember when a truck was what you bought if you couldn't afford a car. I guess that belongs in the "Child of the 70s" thread.

The rest of the post, not so much. I hope your "morning sickness" improves.

I got a new 2023 Buick Enclave AWD Avenir for $61k +- after trading in my 2012. Nothing wrong with the 2012 and everything but the driver's
heating element worked. Heard the General is going to kill the Buick Marque and if I want a new Enclave, now is the time to get it.
I like the new one a lot. All the bells and whistles to make driving easier and close maneuvers safer and surer.

I sat in classes and watched a bunch of Disney movies, it’s the last day of school and they can’t be bothered to teach anything.

Ps I do have a SOL on Monday but that’s only a hour or so.

This morning I went over to the Uhaul storage center to install the new load leveler hitch on my truck and the flat bed trailer that we had planned to take back to Colorado with us next week. No problem setting up the hitch on the receiver of our truck, the problem is this:

That is the locking cover on the bulldog hitch for the flat bed trailer. We use our old 1998 GMC truck to haul it around, and it's in Red River, along with all the keys for the stuff we haul with it. Looks like we will be moving the trailer in July, when we come back to Goodyear.
Meanwhile, I'm back home setting up files for Sharon, and watching two guys from the pest control company remove a colony of Africanized bees from our retractable hose reel on the side of the house. They decided to setup housekeeping in it while we were in Red River.

Update:
Tomorrow we will be trading in our 2014 Toyota Forerunner for a 2024 Toyota Forerunner. Sharon cleaned out all the pockets and glovebox earlier, so I went back in and looked under all the seats and in the back where we have a sliding shelf that is on tracks in the storage area. I found a bunch of stuff. About five dollars in change, two 1.5 liter bottles of Fiji water, the locking part of a hitch pin, a nice Sharpie pen, a rechargeable backup battery with USB ports, a small brass fitting, a safety pin and some calcite rock. I felt so good about it that I came in and went through the key/junk drawer... Guess what I found?

Looks like we might be taking the flat bed trailer to Colorado after all.

Bees in AZ? When I was last in NM WhiteSands area I saw no bees. I was in Scott's Dale in 1985 I saw no bees.
Not that I could notice. I thought it was Too Dry for Bees, what did I know...

We live on a golf course, there are lots of them in AZ, including Scottsdale and Goodyear. We have had swarms of bees removed several times since we moved into this house. It's next to a small lake/water hazard on the golf course here, and they water the grass daily.

Picking up dinner then it’s off to the roadside to watch the 17th of May parade. That’s Norwegian Constitution Day for you philistines. Our neighborhood has the third largest parade in the world, after Oslo and Bergen.

What? A sunny day! I should paint rockets!

No, I should get outside and attack monster weeds. Done and done. Maybe tomorrow will be sunny too.

No.

Emergency warning on phone - severe thunderstorms and damaging winds.

Annnd, as ever, they were right.

🎼 “Well life on the farm is kinda laid back…” 🎼

John Denver, bite me.

It's going to be sunny here tomorrow if you fancy popping down to help cut my weeds. Or should I install the wind generator.....

Like I don’t have enough of my own weeds.

Dude.

This delightful weather comes on top of having a disgusting chest infection that actually kept me in bed. Not being John Lennon, spending a week in bed was totally beyond me so I spent most of my time expectorating off the deck.

Choice.

Anyhoo, we seem to have ‘weathered the storm’ as it were.

Which is nice.

NM and AZ are not all one climate and terrain, despite my (only half) jokingly referring to them as New Mezona.

I’ve done the next proof of concept stage for Christmas presents. I can make a stone d6 easily. The d10 process needs some work, but I see where to go now. 638CA8D2-4AC1-47AC-89BD-B18D56A75E61.jpeg

We've been watching our grandson today so flag football game and later this afternoon they finally drugged me out of bed and we went to a Mexican restaurant.

Painters started throwing paint onto the walls today. First coat is done. This is the workshop.

About 115 litres of paint just today.

Living area.

Now for something I actually did. Booked to see a concert with Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier playing. Very intimate venue too.

Also more getting ready for a move in a couple of months.
