Got that new Dremel:
- 1st: I used a regular 1-1/8" drill bit to make a rough contour circle.
- 2nd: I used the Dremel at 15 000 RPM with a cylindrical diamond grit bit to carefully increase hole diameter until a 1-1/4" aluminum backplate could fit inside.

I also used the same Dremel and bit to shave more edge off the acrylic windows.

Peeled the paint masks on the dark star jr 2-stage. Two fin faces need redone because I botched the mask removal doing it too soon, but otherwise good. Gloss clear on the payload tube came out good too.

This looks nice. I'm jealous, still waiting on shipping from Wildman's holiday sale.

What color is that?

This one is from the 2019 WIldman holiday extravaganza...I build slowly.

Rusto 2X Satin Magenta. The shiny payload tube is the same with a generous layer of Rusto Gloss Clear overtop.

Got another rocket out of the repair box and back into the flight box. This is one of the Fliskits Triskelions that we built together when our sons were in Cub Scouts. Mine flies nearly every launch but this one, built by my son Jonah, needed some love. One fin reassembled, all three fins reattached, all three strakes reattached, paint touched up (I didn't try to fill in the "Estes dent" but the fresh paint hides it pretty well), and the parachute was untangled and reattached with a snap swivel.

Finished scratch build #103. It's a Nike Smoke. 2.6 BT, 29mm x 12" mmt., 1/4 birch ply fins and it's 40 long. It weighs 24 ouches with a 48" chute and nomex blanket. The nose cone I made from a 3" x 7" paper mache craft cone and epoxy clay. I'm calling it Might Smoke. I think a H 115DM would be a good motor for it.

Beautiful Job. At 24 ounces it will do just fine. Nice looking bird.

Bought a rocket kit.

I picked up a Mach1 Dead Ringer BT20 from FlightSketch. I wanted to try one of the small Mach1 kits, but I procrastinated until they stopped sales for the change in ownership. The Dead Ringer wasn’t my first choice, but when I bumped into it in stock, I decided that I could get this one now & another kit later. :)

Built a HPR stand 3/4 inch pvc
Came out solid

IMG_20210213_192333360_HDR.jpgAnother one from my repair pile done. The original attachment point for the recovery system was for the elastic to penetrate the BT and be glued to the outside. I never liked that idea so I attached a new piece with cardstock and the "Estes tri-fold".

Mystery rocket I had posted back Aug. 16 2020 is now complete. Estes Meteor available from 1990-1991.
The decals went on good but as with many of my old rocket kits they don't seem a adhere to the dried paint as well as I'd like which is always a bit of a shame.

I started the motor mount for an SBR Li'l Thor. I didn't use the original motor mount tube because it was too short to allow the entire forward fins to bond to the tube. I picked up a length of LOC 24mm tube and used that instead. Used a 3 gr. CTI case as a reference for length, although an F85 may be a little too much motor for this baby.

Attempting to un-warp the rotor balsa in my Mini A Heli. Will this work without wetting the wood first? I have no idea. Will give it a day or two and see if it makes any difference. Don't really want to start messing with wetting this wood if I can avoid it.
