....what hump?
Got to rummaging around some of my Parts/Tubing boxes and found some inspiration.![]()
Sometimes all it takes for me is a fin cutoff and I'm off and running on a new design

I'd like to thank you guys for the kind words. Dave,Top and morlock. I tried to keep the same angles on the trailing edge and forward edge of the two fins. And the same for the fin tips.I think this is what gives it a good look to a split fin Dave.
I call these my 20 dollar rockets. I thought I'd show you guys how I did the nose cone. The coupler tube form estes is so thin I never thought it could handle the shock from the chute deployment, So I figured that the body tubes from Balsa machine the same size as the aerotech 1.9 tubes fit inside the estes 2" coupler. Stiffened it right up.Then the coupler stock for the aerotech tube fit up into the nose cone so I can put my chute and shock cord up into the nose cone.
This picture shows how it all will fit togather.

Hey EstesBasher thanks for sharing !
When I cut off the end of the shoulder for access and to open as a chamber the shoulder loses all rigidity - and I do not trust epoxing kevlar to the plastic as an anchor point.
Previously had done a 'Coker' on the nose cone by epoxing in a CR just past where the shoulder starts and then bolting a bulkhead to it..worked great in a 4 inch Mega Der Red Max clone and my LOC V2 clone - but does not downscale well into a 2 inch tube .
Will try this or glue in a small bulkhead in the top of the nosecone for a kevlar loop on my next opprotunity.
Kenny
Kenny you can do this, Just run a stuffer tube the full length of the two nose cones on the inside. like this one.

Talk about a 4FNC....
I stared at my, still in the box, Estes Saturn V. Just not sure if I am ready to tackle it.
:confused2:
Is that thing stable? Looks way cool...

For some reason squat rockets do very well. Take a good look at that rocket. Without fins it's a boat-tail Spitzer bullet shape. I had one I called "Stumpy" from a cartoon that was in High Power Magazine. Stumpy performed at its best with an I357 AeroTech until the shock cord mount finally gave up from all the ejection charges. I still have the cone and I do plan to rebuild...next time I can get white PVC drainpipe.
Loaded the toy hauler for tomorrows launch.
Estesbasher,
Do you have any more details/photos of the construction? The looks exactly like something I'd like to build.
Today i wanted to work on my air brakes as i dont like using servos. They cannot handle the force and are too big so i did some searching for small linear actuators and came accross a company called firgelli automations (www.firgelliAuto.com) and it turned out their founder was one of the developers for the Seawolf missile systems the brits use for their sea to air long range military missiles. He later moved into the private sector and founded Firgelli. So they specialize in Linear Actuators and recommended the fa-rms series for me as i need about 30lbs of force which i cannot get out of a servo motor. So great day for me and thanks Firgelli for your help
Went to a small launch at a local farm
I launched my Patrol Cruiser Excalibur on an 18mm Reload - D13-5

It landed in a dam! Damn

But I had this guy come and check on me while I was trying to figure out how to get it back
