    I am pretty sure that if they had it cabled correctly they would not need the fan. The room I inherited had the same high tech cooling though.

    At least they used different colored cables. I saw a server farm scramble-wired like that in only Belden blue. The buyer got a good deal on the cables, so that's all there was.

    That wasn't put together like that originally; it grew to that state over time. At some point, you have to shut everything off, pull the rat's nest out, and re-wire (documenting and labeling as you go).

    As someone who works for a company making high powered DC EV car chargers (50kW - 350kW) this scares the life out of me.

    The care that needs to be taken to torque the bus bar connectors down is serious and this is on the lower spectrum of how stuff like that can go abjectly wrong in my experiences over the last year...

    So, is what's going on here likely that too many amps are being pulled by that connection, orbis it a poor connection thus higher resistance this heat?
