I have it @3600ish Parachute recovery/microbeacon/altimeter and Marco Polo GPS tracking.Looks like it will go pretty high. What's your recovery plan?
Main at apogee? Have you tried to calculate wind drift from that altitude? Will it stay in your waiver area?I have it @3600ish Parachute recovery/microbeacon/altimeter and Marco Polo GPS tracking.
Wind in Colorado and Wyoming this time of year can be tricky.Main at apogee? Have you tried to calculate wind drift from that altitude? Will it stay in your waiver area?
I didn’t realize that the Marco Polo was GPS.I have it @3600ish Parachute recovery/microbeacon/altimeter and Marco Polo GPS tracking.
It's not. Uses radio doppler technology.I didn’t realize that the Marco Polo was GPS.
Darn… no magic! I bet the traveler’s on Marco Polo’s Silk Road wouldn’t have cared if terminology was incorrect.
Best of luck. You got this. Just remember to study for the test, and don't let nerves scramble your brain.
Remember a flight checklist so you don't forget anything critical. Go fever can really mess people up.
Do you have or can you borrow a Jolly Logic chute release? They work great and can help minimize drift. Good Luck!!!This will be my second attempt. Test passed and one flight under the belt. Last time it was recovered outside the launch site but had zero damage.
Good advice. Bring a variety of rockets that can fly in different conditions. If it's windy, fly a streamer rocket that won't fly that high. If you have a high altitude screamer, best not to fly it and save it for another time. Go fever kills. Especially if one messes up their electronics for flight. Checklist is helpful.
Saw a 12,000 foot flight where the flyer crossed the apogee and main charges. Main blew at an estimated 12k. It was a large rocket with an oversized main chute. It was able to be seen at altitude, had a radio beacon tracker and it was still lost. It was drifting out of sight from the launch site. Flier attempted to track it with the beacon from his truck (someone else was driving) but lost it. Probably landed in a lake or river. All that pricey equipment lost due to crossed wiring of an ebay. Thank you! Here the checklist I used for my L3. Feel free to repurpose.
