A while back I got some of these sets of JST connectors w/ red and black wires from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HHY9ZK2/

I am not sure if the connectors really lock securely enough. I have since done more searching on Amazon and found these other ones that look like they may lock more securely:

https://www.amazon.com/Female-Connector-Adapter-Electrical-Cable/dp/B09MFC3TJ7/

or perhaps these;

https://www.amazon.com/smseace-Female-Connections-connectors-JST-XH2-54-25/

Does anyone have recommendations for particular connectors? If you have some that have worked for you that would be good to know about. Hopefully from Amazon.

I ordered a bunch from Adafruit. they are the correct polarity to match e.g. Altus Metrum products. apparently the RC folks use opposite polarity?!

Secure enough for what? They will not incidentally separate, but will likely not support the weight of the rocket in a tree.

Everything after the first ? mark in these links is a tracker. Just copy the link up to just after the first ? and use that.

Dave S:
I have used ones that look the same as the first link with no trouble, but then again I haven't subjected them to 50 g's or anything. Maybe 10 in a model airplane, with a bit of vibration. There's a certain amount of friction that holds the connectors together. You have to pull reasonably hard, at least in relation to their size, to get them apart.

Dave S., I actually use both types you posted, but that's because I run both 2S lipos for eggtimer devices which use the red JST and I run 1S lipos for all my Altus gear, which uses the smaller white JST PH2.0. Both types fit snuggly, nave had an issue of them coming apart, and I use them to build harnesses between the altimiter/battery/altimeter switch. Be careful of the PH2.0s from Amazon. The polarity is backwards, so I color code one side of the connectors themselves with a sharpie so I don't have an oopsie while building the harness or trying to stab a couple together in the field.

Pretty much everyone uses the opposite polarity... I have found that Altus appears to be the ones that are reversed for some reason.
