Experimenting with Koala Inkjet Decal Paper: no clearcoat required

Not if you want clear coat over it, I very strongly suspect. There's not a paint or paint-like substance made that will adhere to wax, I feel sure.
 
Conclusions, for now

I ended up sticking with my first print, never mind those couple of fuzzy borders. The clear-coated Koala paper worked quite well, no running at the edges and the gloss matched up with the paint perfectly.

This is after one coat of Future on the entire nose:

And so, I think I'll probably stick with the Koala for white-backed decals in the future. For clear-backed, I'm not sure... but it's a bit less critical because I can use any inkjet paper and not worry about the edges (can always leave a bit of clear border around each decal to avoid the problem). It's a bit of a bummer that I'll still need to spray-clear the decal sheets, but at least I'll know that they'll work correctly at application time.
