Problems accessing TRA Forum(list)

Has anyone else had problems trying to join the TRA forum? Ive tried 4 times over the last 2 weeks and have been completely ignored. I thought it was suppose to be a membership benefit, see #5 on "reasons to join" below

Is TRA normally this unresponsive?

I had the same problem a few weeks ago.

You need to contact the webmaster for the site and be manually added.

Thats what I have done 4 times in the last 2 weeks

Count me among those ignored... In fact, I've tried off & on since October.

Hmmm... That webmaster would be me, and I don't recall any emails from you.

Do you get emails from your wife she is aware of it as well and has tried as well?
Good since you are the webmaster then you can help me?
Also, I was told it was Dave Wilkins who is the point of contact.
I sent emails to the 2 listed on the TRA website as well as others here:

Sometimes she tells me, sometimes she doesn't -- HQ is her job, so I only get involved when she asks me for assistance.

Please forward me the email you sent ([email protected]) and I will see what I can do to help.

BTW, it's only by sheer luck that I even found this thread -- I'm a major skimmer, and don't come close to reading everything.

This whole attempt is futile,

Ive been told(via email) from TRA(Tripoli Rocketry Association) I am being denied access to the forums because there are some unpleasant things that have been said about me and they are afraid I will cause trouble. I am also being told access to the forum is not a membership benefit even though it is listed as one on their site(see link in first post)

So basically it is a free for all forum that Vendors can be bashed on and you can never defend yourself on. Seems they are all take and no give. They never had a problem accepting the numerous free kits I have donated to their events in the last almost 3 years.

In fact, the remarks in question on their forum came from one of their(TRA) members who won a free kit at one of their events I sponsored and then had the nerve to complain about how long it took him to get his free kit.

I would advise anyone who is thinking of Joining Tripoli to reconsider . For the $70 all you get is a membership card. no access to the forum, even their magazine costs extra. NAR includes the magazine and costs less, etc. My dealings with the NAR staff have been outstanding and very professional. I donate $5,000-$10,000 a year in free kits to events, schools and other organizations annually. All I ask in return is to be treated professionally and given recognition for the donation, it's that simple.

Save your money and join NAR!!! I will be cancelling my membership, sending back their Card and requesting a refund for the dues paid.

The above post is based on my personal and factual experience and is no different than anyone else who has posted an opinion about a retailer ,vendor,etc. I am relating my experience because I know others have had the same problems and those who have not should be made aware of these issues.

Needless to say, I will not support anymore TRA events. If this is the way they treat supporting vendors then it is not for me!!

Way to go, Tripoli. I was going to renew this spring and start flying again but now I'm not so sure it will be with Tripoli. There is a basic un-fairness to this that does not sit well with me and a pre-emptive strike such as this makes me wonder what's going on over there. It almost smacks of an old boys clic. No noobies need apply, you'll be prejudged.

Nope, now most likely the NAR will be getting my money. Besides I think the local section has ceased operation and at one point in the past it was suggested that maybe I could get it going again.

Worth looking into, more flying dates

Sheez Sheri you can't seem to catch a break. I also was debating about switching to TRA before renewing with the NAR this March. Maybe I will...maybe I won't. I am curious to hear what TRA's response to this is...

This is a very interesting twisting of what transpired, and what was said.

Having been party to the email that was sent, the member in question was not denied membership. The reality is that Sheri is not a member of TRA -- her husband is. An email was sent indicating what needs to be done for him to get access. There's a process for requesting access, it is documented on the TRA website.

Suffice to say that the representation of what transpired is neither fair, nor factual. But, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

We used my husbands paypal account to pay for the membership for the company because it had the correct address on it. The membership was suppose to be for an entity, corporation as allowed in your bylaws.

You're saying it's a corporate membership. But that doesn't match the membership information provided when the membership was submitted, nor in subsequent emails to HQ.

Regardless, you're leaving out the part of the email where you and your husband were told the process for requesting membership.

I like Sheri's kits I think they are quality and top notch. I don't own one but have been thinking about it. I don't know the whole story on this or any of her previous threads, but it seems like all I hear is this:

BS, The whole point of this thread was my emails were being ignored and now I know why you guys were stalling as indicated by the email sent to me from the list manager. You Dave and Deb have all answered my emails so to try to say you never received them is crap.

Yes, and there is no way to indicate what type of membership you want when joining using paypal.

I (We) have tried now at least 6 times to access the forums by the way you specify , as early as this monring I emailed the list manager back. I have copies of all the emails. As you can see from above I am not the only one this has happened to (previous post some have been waiting since Oct) and I am sure there are others. So make all the excuses you want, Facts are facts

Ladies and gentlemen I am closing this thread. I think this has become a personal issue between a board member and the TRA which is very much their business and not ours. I am not commenting on the right or wrong of this issue and I hope it gets resolved in a fair and equitable manner. I will consult other mods and admins on this as well. If anyone has a question about this please feel free to PM me.
