I just had an interesting, yet odd experience. I'm selling my Lift n Lock tool box on Craig's List for $45. They normally sell for $60 online and by the time you pay tax and shipping you are out over $70 at least.

https://www.pdysystems.com/tool_buy.php

So I have some guy call me about the ad and he's interested and would like to come out and look at it. I said great and gave him directions. He gets to my house and he's looking over the box real good and he was curious how his drill might fit in the upper portion I grab mine and we put it in there and see how it looks. So after about 15-20 minutes he offers me $40. I said NO. I explained to him that it's in excellent shape as you can see and if you were to buy them online how he would end up paying a lot more.

I asked him if he could go to the ATM but he doesn't have an ATM card and he only brought $40. So he left without the tool box. I told him he should have brought $45 because he just spent the difference on gas alone. I go when you change your mind and come by out here again you will be out $15 in gas.

IDK I just don't get people sometimes?? He should of asked me on the phone if I would take $40 and it would have saved him a trip.

And that is a high quality item. I have 2 and love them.

How much to ship it?

Sorry Dan, I was just kidding!

When I first read your heading I thought it read "F--ked People."

I would never curse some body for not buying something. Just my point is that if someone is asking a certain price it would be best to bring that amount if you wanted that item and the seller isn't going to come down on it. Like I said he wasted more money in gas then the difference he wanted to talk me down. It's cool to each their own ya know?

Craigs list is full of people looking to get something for nothing. Case in point - have been trying to sell a Midmark Autoclave, in excellent working condition. Asking about 1/2 of its price new. Had a guy contact me asking if I would take a 100gal aquarium for it. I told him not to bother me unless he was serious about a PURCHASE - not a trade.

Yeah I know where you are coming from? Just recently I posted here I got involved with electric RC trucks. I wasn't too thrilled and it was short lived. I think probably because the people in the forum are less favorable, not like here where everyone is nice and willing to help you out. I parted out my truck and actually made more than what I paid for it new...go figure, but yes I would get a lot people wanting to grind me down or trade. When I price something I try to make it fair and if I price too high expecting to be talked down...well then no one will contact because the price is too high. I guess it's just something we must put up with when we sell items online. I never once had any issues here whether I was buying or selling. Everyone here is really stand up people and I'm glad to be a part of this forum.

Yeah, I've been through this sort of thing lots of times, especially when I was running my custom hay baling business...

There's always someone who wants something for nothing.

Had a guy come by one time and asked me to ride over with him and take a look at his place-- it was grown up in a lot of dead dry standing grass and weeds, and it was choking the grass out. He wanted it baled for hay, probably because he couldn't bear the thought of paying at least as much money just to have it bush-hogged off. I told him I didn't think it'd make decent hay, but I was willing to cut, rake, and bale it for $20 a roll. He started some spiel on my about "there's a guy in the paper selling bermudagrass hay DELIVERED for $20 a roll". I looked him straight in the eye and told him, "sounds like a h3ll of a deal-- you better just do that then, because I get $20 a roll for cut, rake, and bale, and move them to the edge of the field as a courtesy". They guy was just trying to chew me down, but that was already like $5 cheaper per bale than everybody else in the country, at least... and most guys wouldn't even bother with his mess anyway. Course, it wasn't the hay he was after anyway, but getting the place cut, so he took me up on it.

I had lots of situations like that and I got pretty good at saying "NO" rather than getting screwed by some schiester... I know my costs, I set my price where I get a fair profit, so take it or leave it, I don't care much either way...

Later! OL JR :)

You fibbed! You had an issue with one guy awhile ago, I know cause it was with me!LOL

Kidding.

Again!

He was just casing your house to see what you have. He never was going to buy the box at any price.
He will be back to steal the box, the drill and anything else he can grab

ROFL -- Yeah, I live in the boonies and have had 'dudes' come around obviously under this pretext.

Last time I had a 'barn sale', one of the 'usual suspects' was wandering around with no obvious intent on purchasing. He waited until I wasnt talking to anyone and asked what guns I had, and if i was willing to sell. I pointed to the safe and told him that there was an 'antique' in there, a .303 Bren. He then brashly asked 'yeah and what would you need one of those for?', I just answered 'home defense'!!

Let him try to get pass me :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Hey buddy, your welcome to borrow the wolf if you need. She has a pretty good track record. Before the wolf--3 breakins after the wolf 0 breakins with a busted OUT back door and an odd piece of denim in the back yard--this was all in GA. Don't even lock the door in Tx anymore. The pooch is free to borrow--S@H--we'll work a deal--I bring the dog--you get me on a dry lake--such a deal !!

That's bad...but probably true.

To go out for something and haggle over five buck's! Please, I don't haggle over a price untill it's at least fifty bucks or more,

Craigslist is like an online flea market. Haggling is part of the fun. Of course, you are in no way required to play, and clearly the individual set himself a limit, much like setting a bidding limit on ebay.
