Big Bertha build. I masked the rocket so I could spray the two fins black. After drying overnight, I removed the masking and I almost have a completed rocket! I think the filets and lines on the paint look pretty good. The entire finish is nice and smooth and shiny :)
Good job on the finish !
...what did you use for the paint ?...and clear cocoa

Am I crazy or have you built a ton of Berthas?

I have 3. It's my favorite. I'm slowly working to building a fleet :) When I was young I just glued them together, sprayed color on them, and went launching. Nowadays, I'm trying to learn how to get a really nice quality finish. So each build I try new techniques.

I have best luck with an air brush & trying various paints....just sayin' !?

I have the Cricut machine out waiting for the green vinyl to show up for my 4” Mighty Mick graphics.

I may have overdone it on my low power Praetor re-finish. This old rocket was missing a fin, another was broken. It’s been sitting on the bottom shelf for at least a decade. it inspired both a mid-power upscale and a big 4” high powered upscale. It deserved to fly again.

Leave me alone with a vinyl cutter and you never know what will happen. I haven’t decided if I like it or not…but I’m not changing it yet.

I like the wide fins, extended out from the body.I wonder how they affect stability?
...swing test !??

I started majorly rearranging my basement to set up a little 3D printing "factory" down there. I'm printing out little coasters to level the tables.

I started building three Apogee Condor pop-pods. I started a separate thread in the BG section asking about preventing Red Barons.

Went to the specialty fastener place and got a 3/8-24 thread bolt which when mounted under the tripod sled, allowed me to screw the keyless chuck on top , so now I can use it on top of the new tripod that I've got and that way the engine will be right there at eye level and much more accessible to everyone that's trying to install an igniter
I also received the "Icing" lightweight filler that I need for the Indigo rocket.

Bruce,. PM me your postal address and I'll send you a plastic care package.
The A motor holder is printed for whatever size you said you wanted
Norm

Shall do. To paraphrase the other Bruces, "She's You're a good Shiela bloke, Bruce, and not at all stuck up." 🤠

I did the first set of internal fillets for the Magnum. I only did the centering ring/motor tube internal fillets. Today, I will start the fin/motor tube internal fillets.

Filleted the Super Big Bertha again, because the last fillets didn't turn out too well. Applied the Bondo spot putty too thick. It cracked in many places so...another coat.

Helped host TARC 2022 today, TARC’s 20th anniversary… It was misty in the morning, cleared early, absolutely no wind for the first set. A small squall came through at the beginning of the second round fly offs with a little bit of wind, had a few land in the spectator area but no casualties 😉… Watching the high power demo now…

Quickie-Gantt charted my current rocket build. If I'm going to make Spudnik, it's going to be extremely tight. This day-job is seriously getting in my way right now. #firstworldproblems
