Laid the second set of fillets on my AI38. I also farted around with the paint job design from my Quicksilver (rest in peace) to see how a black/red fade might look on the AI38. I'm thinking about leaving the carbon fins exposed when I paint it, so a black back end seems like it'd flow well into that.Screen Shot 2020-09-06 at 9.29.57 PM.png

That looks fantastic, best rendition of your signature mask pattern I’ve seen yet.

Thanks Neil, I appreciate that. It'd be tough to do on such a small rocket (for me, anyway). It's growing on me though. I'm tempted.

Looked at Labor Day rocketry sales but apparently the East Coast got in earlier than me and bought up all the Estes BP motors...er, engines, didn’t see. anything at Madcow that appealed to me, so I amused myself running sims on Thrustcurve.

98 degrees in the rocket workshop so no actual work was done today.

While browsing through the model rocket stuff listed on EBay I found this:

The listing is here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Cremat...685766?hash=item2f49af4386:g:PtgAAOSwNJNfVYAk
From Altaira Rocketry, maker of the N-1 and the Friede.
So if I read this correctly you can fly up to 9 oz. of your or a loved one's remains (or a pet's) and eject it into the sky. I guess this is for the REALLY hard core model rocket fanatic.
Just hope nobody's picnicking under the fallout.
:D

People are dying to launch it...

Sorry. I'll go back to work now.

That's how my sister wants to go. I might have to get one.

It's not uncommon for members of the pyro community to have their cremains placed inside a shell and launched to a dramatic BOOM!

Took delivery of a 5’ long Makerbeam 10x10mm launch rail.

Actually two of them as they can only be ordered in pairs and sealed together in plastic. I assume this is to prevent them from bending during shipment.

Due to the horrific wildfires, the air quality index was 424 (Hazardous) today so I stayed indoors and did no rocketry tasks in the garage.

Several years ago now, when I went for a job interview in Palmdale, the highway from the airport was closed for about 45 minutes due to smoke (low visibility). And when I left the building after the interview, there was ash on the rental car and the smell of the smoke was strong. And the thing is, no one thought this was remarkable. So 1) if it's remarkable now that must be really bad, and 2) that should have been my first hint not to take the job. ( I took it because I'd been out of work for months.)
