I'm such an HK pistol fanboy, but still think I "need" a 1911 in the stable. One day. :)
Hi RF, Are You aware of the fact that the HK P-9 ( I believe) was used as the "New" U.N.C.L.E. Special in "The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E.? It used and 'Aimpoint' scope, barrel extension, wrist brace as opposed to the Walther and Mauser shoulder stock. It also had a fake extended clip. 'Guns and Ammo' did an article on it back in the 80's when the movie came on. Check it out sometime. Cheers!

WIsh I could have this much shooting fun. The public ranges are closed, the private ranges are rather expensive and rather elitist. There are no empty gravels pits, like in KY and TN, not to mention all the private land.
Guess I'll go down to the deer camp and set up my own range.
I'd look funny out there on the multiple target TAC range in my 1950's cotton suspenders and 60's mag pouches.

Some ranges/stores are open, appointment only, reservations required for the range.

Good chance to sight in a new ACOG and an MRO on an M&P15-22, and bring along a VP9 of course. :)

You guys can probably own suppressors, too.

Here in the failed s.c..l..t state of Cali such things are strictly verboten...”Für Ihre Sicherheit”

It was the HK P7 (PSP variant). I’ve got one. Super nice pistol; maybe my favorite. I’ve also got a couple of P38s that I bought to make U.N.C.L.E. Specials.

A few of my recent additions over the past several months:

CZ 75B my new favorite handgun

SIG P226 Legion still On the fence about this one

And then my mil surplus hobby kicks in!

Zastava M57 Tokarev. This is a nice, smooth shooting pistol, just tracks low and right.

Chinese Type 56 SKS still covered in cosmoline. I’ve only cleaned it off enough to see the markings. I’ll do a deep clean on it this summer and see how she shoots.

and finally, my AR family... Brownell 601 clone on the left, then a M16A1 builtfrom an original Colt parts kit and barrel, A2 clone, with an original Capco upper, A4 clone with an original FN A4 upper, then my precision build to get into precision shooting. The AR on the right is my first AR, a Colt OEM2 that I’ve had for several years now. Only the Brownells and my precision build have made it to the range so far out of my new ones.

Yes, yes you do. I want another 1911, but a carry version rather than a target model.
Lately I've been looking at getting an HK VP9 or, more likely, an FN 509. And I'm a 45ACP, 357 mag kinda guy. But A full-size 9in would sure be fun on the range.

But on the other hand I want a GP100, Chiappa Rhino, and Taylor's Smoke Wagon equally as bad.

If you end up getting a VP9 and wants the sights changed out, let me know. This is an awesome tool I bought and works fantastic. https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...t-movers/sight-pro-sight-mover-prod60424.aspx

I bought quite a few slide inserts for Glock, M&P, Sig, 1911, etc. as well.

Let's see if this works...
A few years ago I finally got to custom building some Ruger 10/22s (bought a book on it 5+ years prior! :p ) and this was one of my first builds. I call it Red Scorpion (has an engraved red scorpion on the bolt) and it has a bunch of custom parts (can't recall all of them) including a triangular barrel. Just recently I managed 5 shots in one hole with CCI Standard Velocity ammo at 25yards. I normally can get 3 in one, but this was the first with 5. This rifle is SWEEET! I highly reco others try building one based on the 10/22...cheap start and build it up as you'd like!

krislhull, how can you be on the fence about that 226 Legion, looks like a shooter!

Dont get me wrong, it is an excellent pistol, and I do enjoy shooting it, but I am not sure it is worth twice the cost of the CZ. I'm not going to get rid of it, as I do like it, but I do have a bit of buyers remorse over the cost of it. If anything, it will probably become a competition gun if I get into that kind of thing.

One of the beauties of the 10/22 so many parts so few dollars....I have a 10/22 Target model (brown on brown laminated stock, hammer forged heavy weight target barrel no aftermarket parts other than a scope and slight mods). The first mod was drilling the mag release button and fitting it with a extension a polished brass 1/8" round stock about 1" long epoxied into the mag release button. Second and the most important mod was bedding the barrel and free floating the action, bedding the action on a 10/22 doesn't work well with heavy barrels due to the weak joint between the barrel and action so the barrel flexs, next up was mounting the scope mount to the barrel again getting weight off the action. I shoots a ragged one hole group at 25yds, using CCI Standard Velocity Ammo and a number of different match ammo's.

Something about guns & rockets (n fireworks) had me facinated since about 7 years old. I cant resist smoke, fire, gun powder and things that go bang.

Wish I would have bought more guns instead of getting married all those years ago,,, would have been cheaper in the long run and I'd still have all that equity, lol.
I have a basic array, but I do quite like my 1911 Kimber with the custom ebonite grips. Makes me smile just to hold it, though I don't tote it around as much as I once did.
I still have the pen too :p

My 1911 is also a Kimber, Custom II Target. Love it!
My collection is mostly populated by Ruger: first handgun was a Ruger Mk2; first rifle I bought myself is my M77 25-06, then to my 10/22 that I built for killing armadillos around the place (would you believe I killed four in one night, in my yard!, my daughter was riding on my shoulders for one); the latest addition is an LCR snubnose 357 magnum. When I'm mad I myself I go squeeze off 5 rounds of magnums through that thing.

I'm actually embarrased a bit by my favorite pistol. Phoenix Arms 22. Cheap junky piece of zinc with sheet metal mags and too many safety mechanisms (thanks Cali), but that is one loud barking little SOB and perfect for popping critters and snakes when I'm out working around the property. Plus I think they have some ridiculous warranty so if it ever breaks you send it in and they'll give you another one. I have two, a target model and a regular.
