Ill be going. Plan on heading up Thursday afternoon. Now just hopping the rain holds off. Might need to bring mud boots!
What's everybody up to? Working on anything?
That's right Robert, when are wr gonna see you at a launch?Anxiously waiting for you come out and fly something !
I've got a bunch of things in the works for sure. Time and the kids schedules are conspiring against me though .
Chad' s two stages sounds awesome. Definitely on my to do list!
i'd love to get some opinions on the concept. Although, there's not much to it since the booster is just the bottom of my 4" dx3. The sustainer (what i'll be likely trying for level2 with) has some uniqueness to it and i'd love to get some opinions there though.
For Aerotech reloads the trick I used was to trap the heads of several Copperhead igniters at the front of the motor during assembly. (Thermalite is preferred but a lot harder to find.) Then after the ematch ignited those it wouldn't matter if it departed. But as it turned out the stages didn't separate (I should add a little BP) until the motor pressurized.I have a 2-stage ready and will bring it but it won't fly this time. I need a better flight controller for safer constraints on sustainer ignition plus i'm not sure about Aerotech motors in the sustainer,
How'd the launch go?
it was a very pretty day. How'd the launch go?
Weather was nice on Saturday. What y'all fly?
Thanks! It was a great day!Congratulations John on your return to L1. Sounds like a great day of rocket flights for you and the grandson!
There was a big turnout, maybe the biggest i've seen. A lot of HPR too which was cool, although i missed a bunch of launches while walking out to recover mine. It was a little windy.
I finally got that two-stage ready and launched (without a motor in the sustainer), I'm waiting for some better electronics plus a light North wind before I try and ignite the sustainer. With the sustainer lit, it will definitely be pushing the altitude limits at the Gunter field.
it's like a franken-rocket haha. the booster is the bottom of my madcow dx3 the sustainer is scratch. it balances out perfectly at about 1.6 caliber stability. I should do a build thread on it..Nice. Scratch build?
Was an awesome flight!I flew my 5.5 inch Skyraider called Big Red on a cluster of three I284's. Everything went as planned.View attachment 398998

Yes, their is. Weather permitted it will be a great launch day. I'm sure you will do well. What you are planning mirrors what I did. I flew my Binder Designs Excel on a G76 to insure it flew well and successfully flew it on a H128 for my level one certification.Hey All,
I'm finishing up my first high power rocket build. Is there a launch in Gunter planned on the 18th?
If so, hoping to fly it on a G74 and then if time allows go for level 1 with an H128.
