I got three 3' rods from Grainger for $12. I have one on the way home, so no shipping. Besides, I like to make things. When you throw in the vise it was obviously more expensive this way. However, now I have a bench vise, and if there is anything I like more than more rocket parts, it's more tools.
Good deal.. Granger has been a little better in pricing but does not have the smaller sizes like McMaster

Prep and painting on three projects - Crossfire, Argent and downscale Pegasus.
Dave, check out the new 3M 10X paper at Home Depot. It's really good. REALLY good.
The Crossfire is a great rocket.
I totally agree with the "more tools", Grainger is a great source for 1010 rail too. McMaster-Carr will spoil you with their fast shipping though. Needed some SS U-bolts for the same project, a 54mm MD Blackhawk, ordered Tuesday, delivered Wednesday.
If McMaster-Carr doesn't have it, it probably doesn't exist.
Got some Primer on my scratch built BT-60 D-Region Tomahawk Nose/AV Bay Section.
Also started cleaning up the Shed that I'm going to turn into my new Rocket workshop for the jobs that require "Adequate Ventilation".

Nice detail on that!
Hey Kit- thanks! I splurged and got some nice stuff from Rockler, but dang! HD is on my flight path home from work. Will try some Saturday! (Nod to the Captain for his excellent backup opinion-kudos to you bro'!)Dave, check out the new 3M 10X paper at Home Depot. It's really good. REALLY good.
Launched at bong today. Got very wet feet. Convinced CZTeacherman that his Wildman sport really needed an H410 Vmax in it. Didn't lose any rockets.
Finally got rolling on a new build. It's been a struggle for me to get back into building since my successful L-3 flight at Airfest last year. I'm flying mostly minimum diameter rockets now, with a bunch of altitude junkies at the new HPR launch site called "Eagle Eye". TRA/PHX has monthly launches with a 50,000 ft. waiver. So far no one has busted it. Last November, I was flying a Blackhawk 54 at ROCstock and had a faulty ematch at apogee cause my rocket to land pretty hard. The result of that flight got me the parts to build a new Blackhawk with the new thin wall tubing and light weight polycarbonate nosecone. Today I posted up my progress building an Eggfinder into that new N/C here:
https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?123884-Eggfinder-in-the-new-polycarbonate-nosecone
I also ordered a new Dremel tool, the cordless 8220:

My old one is just worn out, and cord is always in the way when cutting out bulkplates and centering rings.
Last but not least, I sent an email to Cris for a new Eggfinder TX.
For those of you waiting for the build thread I promised, should be up sometime next week.
What's the name of the yellow bird on the right (see images of post right above this one)?Yesterday attended a launch put on by TORC703 and Randy from eRockets, hosting a local Cub Scout pack for their merit badge work. Scouts had a great time with several succesful flights each. Launched my Tube fin One on an E9-4, Hyperion clone on an E9-6 (5 second delay would have been ideal, but fell straight back before deployment) and my AVI Star Warrior clone on anD12-5. All recovered intact. No pictures of my birds, but several of some of the others.
