I'm not that bad. But I'm not really a neat freak. I'm more of a germaphobe. I'll wash my hands to frequently and dry them out stuff like that.

It does have huge benefits. Paying attention to details. obsessing on things i do not understand until i do understand them. except for women i gave up on trying to understand them. Where it becomes debilitating for a person is when they let rituals rule their lives.

As Margaret Thatcher famously said "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." LOL!

HA! I love it!!!

Boy we could use some of this kind of realistic thinking nowdays... Maggie Thatcher and the Gipper... now that was a tag-team... LOL:)

Later! OL JR :)

I am an Asperger's X-Men. I was diagnosed by a friend of my sister just two years ago, but apparently I was the only one that didn't know.

Kudos to you Pem Tech on getting your CCW! I'll be right behind you...will get mine in Las Vegas when I get back home in June. I am planning to get either the XD-S or the Kahr CM-9, in 9mm. I've also got a Ruger LCR in 38Spcl. I reload both calibers and it's so darn cheap to buy, so lots of good reasons to shoot often and stay proficient.

I also bought an evil AR-15 styled rifle recently, a Windham Weaponry CDI. It's a beautiful rifle and shoots even better than it looks--certainly nicer than the M4s I get issued occasionally.

Molon Labe!

...Want to know what the VERY best thing to have, to make sure you're awake and alert when an intruder breaks into the house? A dog.

Excellent suggestion! They make for good company too.

Well, I did my share of Second Amendment work today.
Signed up four brand spanking new members to the NRA and I'm not even an official recruiter!
And...I scored a box of Winchester PDX1 in 12 gauge at the local Wally Whirled. Everybody cheer!!

And what would you have scored if you signed up four brand spanking new members to the NAR?

Heck, I'd give him a pack of C6's.

I plan to score a few CTI "reloads" and hardware from one of our onsite vendors a few hours from now!

LUNAR Ho!

Just heard on the radio that you are 43 times more likely to get shot with your own gun in your home if you own one....wow.

Not debating the number, but cross check the claim and look at the data. Data can be messaged....

Easy solution is to dis-own that firearm like you would a spoiled brat child. If you give it it's freedom maybe it wont shoot you. I know I've assailed mine many a time, cursing it, calling it every foul name known to mankind and it just sits there, never flinching, never moving. Heck, it's cheeks don't even get red from rage afterwards. I figure if my firearm was ever going to shoot me it would have popped up, aimed itself at me and cut loose. I just pick him up and put him in the holster. He doesn't wiggle or anything so I guess he's pretty comfortable there. I'm comfortable with him there.

Personification leads to aphorism.

I don't know what that means.

And for those that know the history of my ex, I have signed up for a CC class Sunday. My Springfield XD-S hasn't come in yet but I can get the permit anyway.
Man that is a great little gun....

Congrats on the CCW course!

Definitely seek further training. While they are a ways from you, here are two top notch facilities:

https://frontsight.com

https://gunsite.com

I spent around two weeks at Frontsight last year. Still not enough training :)

When the ad came out in National Rifleman I was very interested, then when the local range added one to their stable I was hooked. Just unbelievable Springfield could produce a reliable, controllable and not unpleasant to shoot full.45 that will drop in your pocket. Why did you go 9mm?

It's so nice, I haven't had a chance to shoot one. Didn't buy a 9mm, I would go with the 45 any day of the week, I just saw that spingfeild is adding a 9mm to the XD-S line, one of my favorite guys on YouTube reviewed it at SHOT show, and he's reviewed the 45 too.

I should have added that getting the permit is only the first step, Layne. You should invest in some serious training, at least an 8 hour class but preferably a two to four day class. If all else fails, there are training DVDs and online sources for training videos.

My tagline from another location in the wilderness of the interwebs:

Told you I was an honorary Texan.

Here in Nebraska the CCW course is an all day affair with class room and range time. They suggest you bring 100 Rnds to class and 4 or five Mags.
I plan on attending this year just gotta free up some cash for ammo, range time and possibly a new pistol. I am a .45 cal man mainly because that is what I carried in the Military.

Congrats on going to get your CC. I personally don't believe in them and luckily I live in a state that allows open (constitutional) carry. I applaud any and all that do go to the trouble to get one though, although as has been said earlier - those will be the first doors "they" show up at. And congrats to the person who signed up 4 more NRA members - we need all we can get on board to fight the battles ahead in the house and senate. I've been a member most of my adult life and about 15 yrs ago became a Life member. Just remember that like everything else - practice makes perfect.

When I still lived in Texas I wanted to get not only a CHL but take the course to become a CHL instructor. Never was able to do either before I left for Utah. If I had my carry weapon would have been my SIG-Sauer P220 in .45ACP.

To bring closure to my comment about scoring reloads at today's LUNAR launch, I picked up a H165R for my Crayon rocket and an I218R for my big tuber. Redlines just seem to get off the pad a bit quicker than the white motors.

I also made plans to meet with like-minded individuals for a Pro Second Amendment march on state capitols across the country on February 8, 2013 at 10:00am local time.

Added another NRA member today, too.

Where's the launch?
LUNAR holds launches on the first Saturday of the month November through April unless weather conditions prevent it. Check the website www.lunar.org for details and map of where the Snow Ranch launch site is located.

SARG holds launches in the Rocklin/Roseville area the second Saturday of the month November through April unless weather conditions prevent it. Check the website www.sargrocket.org for details and map.

The latter event is probably much closer in both time and distance but the it's only half the size. And of course, our NorCal rocket season pretty much coincides with snow season in the Sierras. Sometimes ya just can't win.

Get a good holster!!! Do NOT be like one of the locals, who last year walked out of his course, complete with new handgun that was loaded, he stuffed it in his pocket and now cannot have kids.

Ouch....
:eyeroll:

Hey, where is the facepalm emoticon?

Congratulations Mr. P, may it serve you well.

Layne i hope you stay safe and it's a shame you need to this this. I have been a gun owner for for over thirty years and would not need or want a concealed weapons permit.
good luck
fred

Congratulations, Layne!

And yes, let us hope it is forever a "have, but not need." That said, it's always better than "need, and not have."

Later!
