Blue Streak at 1/25 scale, hopefully. If that works out, I'll add the enlarged Black Knight second stage to turn it into the Black Prince that never flew. Then maybe Black Arrow, which did. And something stratospheric for Pitfield motors.

Thanks to Nick and all of the vendors:cool:  that supported our hobby.

Let's double the amount next year

let's see...

definite projects:
Arcie II
29mm machbuster (see here)
PML Ariel
a whole bunch of LPR and 24mm MPR rockets (kits and scratch)
the Flip glider turned boost glider
A-10 Warthog BG from SR plans
generic scale-like launch pad (with rail)
*finally* finishing my Fliskits Drake (got for x-mas last year :p )
Polaris (based on cover of book written by Jack McDevitt)

possible projects, depending on money available:
hybrid rocket, to be used with SRS hybrids (more likely to be L1 project if built)
electromagnetic dual deploy module (after hybrid rocket)
father-son team project (both my dad and I, though I still need to talk to him about it ;) )
Camera payload for 3" PML rocket (or built with PML 3" tubing--will work with Ariel)

that's all I can think of for now... I'm sure I'll find more ;)

I'm working on both my L3 project, which is about 75% complete, and a new camera rocket that will hold three cameras and be 2-stage capable.

A few of the 'New-to-Me' tricks I'm using...

All couplers on the camera rocket are both internally reinforced, and removable in case of damage. I'm using a LOT of #10 bolts to hold everything together... :D

The fins and motor-mount on my L3 bird are removable. I did this to make it easier to both transport and store.

The camera-bay holds three cameras - two looking down along the airframe, and one looking out at the horizon. With two digital cameras and a film camera, I should get some interesting videos. :)

Both rockets use a single-breakpoint recovery scheme... drogue-to-main on both, with a Defy Gravity Tether preventing main deployment until triggered. The L3 rocket will have the main parachute in a deployment-bag, pulled out by the drogue... the camera rocket will have the main in a 'burrito' and will unfurl when released.

First flights for both should be in April, at the Three Oaks launch in Michigan.

Carl, 4/5 scale? Why not just build a full scale!!!!! Besides, the HyperTEK M960 has 350lbs of thrust off the pad, you don't need to be that light weight.

As for me, my winter plans are to finish my L3 rocket (with a M960) and the 3 or 4 other rockets that are halfway started in my rocket room.

"I will be building a highly modified ultimate endeavour with Steve Pellegrino (flyr98) with a featured first flight at nerrf."

In addition to that, Distant Thunder and maybe a scratch built, 4" 75mm project.

Just ordered the parts to strech my LOC Forte, so hopefully I can begin on that soon. Shouldn't be to much of a challenge, and other than that, it is hybrid ready. I completely forgot just how long that motor tube is.

So far I have to rockets in the planning phase, but youse guys are getting me thinkin' :)

I've got an Estes Blackbird and a downscale Starprobe that need motor mount repairs. I've got parts enough to build a new Vostok. I've got tubes and nose cone to build a Shrike. So that means I'll be working on something completely different this winter. :D

Awesome! Carl, I can't wait to see this build thread. I was just thinking it had been a while since I'd heard something from you regarding a big build.

This winter, I probably won't be building much. I have a lot of rockets that haven't flown much so I'll be asking for motors or motor money instead of kits for Christmas and my birthday. May finally get off my duff and certify in the spring, depending on how much money I get this winter/spring. My Small Endeavour is aching for that H165...All I need is an adapter, as the SE's first flight destroyed mine. I'm thinking I want to get the PML pre-assembled adapter this time. Thoughts?

Carl, that sounds awesome!! a 11" Phenoix, now thats a big bird ;)

I have decided to rebuild & Upscale my rocket called 'Finally Ready' that recentley ended up coming back from the range in a bin-bag. Im upscaling it to 6" with a cluster of 1x 54mm & 4x 38mm's. I hope to get this ready for March.

I've got a range of LPR stuff I need to make centering-rings, and find nosecones for!

Wow Karl, that's a wild cluster! Put a K1100 and 4 I435s in there.

Dang! That's a very tight cluster as well. What sort of motor retention are you thinking of using? My buddy just finished a 6in rocket with a 54 and 4 29's and we were happy to have the room we had :)

Ferget that. Use a K1275 and 4 I600's :D
Or a K700 and 4 J570's (even better):D

Well there's some of us here in Colorado starting work on a 4X upscale of the good ol Aerotech Arreaux. Should be about 14' or so in the up configuration and 8" in the wide. We're putting in a 7.5" motor 'area' so we're going to have the flexibility to fly many different motor configs by just swapping out a forward bulkplate and rear plate.

Now since we start at 8800' up here at lovely Tripoli Colorado sponsored Hartsell (home of a bunch of those LDRS's way back when) I guess I won't cheat and will have to talk about AGL fllights. ;)

Oh and of course there's the 6" L3 thing I'm going to do with some contest stuff.

Dave

4x upscale? Nice. How long will the MMT section be?

To heck with that - make it 60". That way you can put in a 6" adapter and a 152/50000 case (loki) :D

Only if you buy! ;)

Most of what is going to feed this is EX. None of us want to feed it commercial food.

That's why you should make it long enough for the 152/50000. Anything that goes in it is Ex (seing as it is over the ns limit for a commercial launch). Even if you don't already have one, making it long enough to take one wouldn't hurt.
