Our launch site is just north of Pence, Indiana, less than a mile east of the Indiana-Illinois border. Other close towns include Danville, IL, Hoopeston, IL, Boswell, IN, and Lafayette, IN. The launch field is located on beautiful farmland, which greatly simplifies rocket tracking and recovery. The launch field coordinates are: 40d 23′ 12.38″ N; 87d 30′ 40.62″ W. Field elevation is 709 feet above mean sea level (MSL). Our launch waiver is 17,999 feet.

As our field is in an active farming community, please remember to be courteous and respectful to our neighbors. We are very thankful to the area landowners and farm managers for allowing us to use their land. Please do not drive into the fields, and if crops are still in the ground take care when traversing the fields. NSL-East is happening at the end of harvesting season, so it is important that we stay out of the farmer’s way.

RegistrationRegistration is now OPEN. Register here: https://www.nar.org/site/nsl-east-2023/registration Online registration will close on November 2.

Volunteer – We can’t run this launch without YOU. Further, all volunteers will be given a “Fast Pass” like those at attractions. Your fast pass allows you to skip to the front of the flight line when you are ready to fly – no waiting. PLEASE VOLUNTEER TODAY!

NSL East Merchandise – Hoodies, tee shirts, sweatshirts, pins, and patches are now available. Pickup at the field. The cutoff date is October 22.

NAR Rules – No research motors, commercial motors only. ALL flyers must be registered NAR or TRA members. Flyers under 18 must still be either registered NAR junior members or TRA TMP. Because of this requirement, please consider sponsoring one or more youth NAR memberships for just $10 each on the registration page. Thank you.

Waiver – Our new 17,999 MSL waiver will be in effect.

Time Zone – Our Pence launch field is VERY close to the Illinois state line, so close your clocks may automatically change to Central time instead of Eastern time. Also, those staying in Danville, IL are on Central time. Please keep in mind that all times for this launch are expressed in EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST).

Banquet – There will be a banquet on Saturday, November 11 at 6:30 p.m. EST at the Beef House Restaurant in Covington, Indiana. The buffet menu has been posted on the website. Cost $45 per person, includes tax and gratuity. The speaker will be current NASA astronaut Woody Hoburg (see below).

ATV Rocket Recovery – First introduced at ThunderStruck 2023, for a one-time, $10 donation to the club, our landowners, farmers, and farm managers will drive you to recover your rocket in their ATV. Very popular, save the walking, more time flying and meet our wonderful benefactors.

Hats off to the Tripoli Indiana crew, well done! Thank you for your efforts!

That pad 71 sent (2) Prometheus 5's to the south. :) Mine went 9300 on the 2050X and landed 50 feet off that service road to the south near the purple bins. Worst drag race ever... I got smoked... :headspinning:

Yeah saw that! almost a semi auto instead of a drag race. Mine on Friday off 71 put me 4 fields south and a 1/4 mile east. Little cardio for that one

Hats off and congrats to Curtis Reynolds and the rest of the Indiana Rocketry crew for a great NSL East. There were plenty of pads, almost no lines, and one of the largest launch sites you'll ever see this side of the Mississippi.

There were also more L through M flights put up here than I've ever seen at a launch. With but one notable exception, they all worked.

Thanks again for a great extended weekend!
