The four stage was I creadible, it flew truer than some of single stage flights.

You are also being modest...you are one of TRFs newest L3, correct? A perfect fight too.

...

THANKS!!! Yes, I successfully flew my RW Terminator for my L3 on Friday. It was a textbook flight under IDEAL weather conditions. MANY MANY thanks to TAPs Bob Brown and Steve Klausmeyer for mentoring me through the process. It was a true learning experience and I picked up a number of "best practices" that I will apply to future designs and flights.

Yes large hole. Why no blast plate used? Land owners around here don't like all the holes we leave. So we fill them in or use blast plates to lessen problem.

Pad was set up in a plowed field with loose soil. Easy to fix.

It's a wildman falcon with the CTI glass infused plastic nose cone, same as the black punisher. M2245- IMAX pushed it to Mach 3.1 and 32k according to the initial reports from the Raven and TRS. That is about 10k lower than simmed so I need to download data and check out what was off.

Yep that seems way low for sims. How much of the nose cone is gone? Was it painted to begin with? Reason I ask is I have an extreme I am going to fly on a research N3700 that should do M3.6.

No paint, bare polished surface of the glass infused plastic nosecone and phenolic tip. If I get a replacement in I'll clean the dirt off it and weigh it against the new one to see how much plastic I lost, but rigidity-wise it feels relatively similar to the stock one. Might be a little more flexible now, it has that deep fried finish from the tip all the way to the base of the cone.

Happy with those results!

Jason
looks like the tree line at Bong. But no swamp, lakes, 9' tall grass, hunters, motor cycles, What kind of chute on the Punisher?

Gary,
It's an old Rocketman chute. I need a replacement as this on is now ripped pretty bad from the tree. I'll have you look at it and see if it can be fixed. Otherwise, I'll pick up one from you.

That melty black milk bottle on the front had something to do with the under performance.

I don't doubt it Dan, but this was my first flight in that speed range so I'm in the data gathering phase. I do find it interesting how the narrative for those cones was "they're used in Mach 4 projectiles and work fine"...I guess it technically survived. :)

I guarantee that is the most significant factor coupled with an incorrect Cd for the rocket pre-meltdown.

How did the body tube and fins take it? Any Tip to Tip on it?

Congratulations on the flight
Very cool
As far as the cone goes I really doubt it caused the 10k lose in altitude or the flight have failed.
Shoot me an email and we will take care of it for you.
We have had other ones go to Mach 2.8 with no problems

No tip to tip; I applied some healthy fillets of DP420NS of about 0.6"-0.7" radius, then with my leftover scotchweld I finger painted a thin thin layer of the stuff on the leading/beveled edges of the fins. Aside from the dirt it was dragged through the fincan looks basically the same as it did pre-launch. I had not flown a rocket without some kind of secondary fin reinforcement, and definitely not a 75mm one, so I am pretty stoked about how easily it went together.

Congratulations on the flight

Thanks Tim. I did send you guys the picture posted in this thread as I was leaving Airfest just for fun. I haven't seen any other traffic online about Falcon flights, nor seen any post-flight pics of burned up CTI cones but I have no idea if that's due to it not happening or people simply not posting about it. I'll send another note. :)

I'm so jealous... Wish I was there. Looking forward to more rocketry porn from the launch this week. Get with the pics and video folks!

I'm working my back home to NJ after spending the night in Indianapolis, should be home tonight.

I'd like to thank the KloudBusters for once again hosting an outstanding event.

Also I'm hoping someone got photos of my 4-stage flight on Friday. Please PM me if you have something you're willing to share with me. By the way, the final altitude was 21,000 (my personal best) and all stages were recovered with no damage.

Nadine Kinney did. I saw them on her highlights board.

Yes, it had the Missileworks GPS, it was the very first time using it and I was able to track it with no issues. Haven't gotten home to upload any data yet.

Fred

I have a few I believe, I'll go through my pics and let u know today

I know, I talked to her and plan to get one, but she just had liftoff photo I am hoping someone got staging

My sons and I had a great time. It had been 15 years since I had been to Argonia. I launched my Saturn V with somewhat expected results of a skywriter. It flew last 15 years to the day on a D12, but it must have been a low wind day. I thought the E20 would overcome the difference. No real damage. We learned much and enjoyed the helpful nature of the event. In general it was a great place to take my boys with only occasional language problem but never from the hosts. Thanks yo so much to all those that volunteered and made it work. Hope to see some of you in Pawhuska later this month. I came home, and got my old level 1 rocket out and hope to certify 1, and possibly 2 there.
