Just ordered mine from Apogee, and I got to use my discount points. :)

Got the email notification from Apogee earlier today. Called them to put one on hold for me to pick up tomorrow. I'm like a kid the night before Christmas... all excited for my new toy!

Hopefully we can get to the NCR site and the weather will cooperate for the February 6th launch. Can't wait to try this out.

Wow, ordered Monday at noonish, received it already this morning! That's fast from CA to KY, standard free shipping! John, your shipping, packing, and, retail box are a work of art!

Unfortunately, due to weather, and medical reasons, I won't get a chance to fly it for a few weeks.

Mine's expected tomorrow. I won't get to try it until mid-February, but I am still psyched to get it.

Well run out and fly it!! Kurt

Got mine in the mail today!! woohoo works good for the dry runs... now just need to launch it and see how it performs at altitude!

Be sure to shake test your chutes once wrapped to be sure the setup will work

Awesome! I got to hold the shipping version yesterday, sure was nicely packaged and definitely a slicker product than the beta units I tried.

I'd love to use it for a 10lb rocket, but it's better that I don't. Will just have to use the cable cutter with the back-up.

I'll be using it in a g cluster and a j or I single Sunday. I got a long streamer to use in tandem. Should be fun.

Hello John and all- Update

Well, I went out to fly on the local farm where I launch class 1 stuff. I am in Ohio and it was COLD today (20's) and it was a tad windy.....it was cold. I launched a 3" rocket on an H128-W. It went at least 2000 feet. I used the same method I used on my tests that you have on the Jolly Logic website....using a fire blanket to protect the chute release and chute bundle. I used the same old prototype model you sent me and after all the flights it is still working perfectly!

The unit kept a charge and worked perfectly even though it was cold. I did all my prep outside the truck....so the unit had a good deal of time outside. After today, I will not launch any of my class 1 high power without it!

As a side note. I have done a number of flights with this unit in high power rockets and it works perfectly. As long as the unit is protected and slides out of the airframe easily, it works perectly and as designed. I think this would be perfect for small to medium high power. Would I put it in a 4" motor eject rocket?....in a heartbeat. I also plan to use this unit along with other electronics. There are going to be some neat ideas coming from those who start to use it. Thanks John! What a great product!

ONE MORE THING!!!

Just as a precaution......When you turn your unit one and pack everything...then put the nose cone on....I would NOT pull the nose cone off before you fly. I am scared you will spoof the unit in thinking there was a launch...resulting in a failure....meaning your chute will open at apogee.

John...is this a real concern? can you give some comments on this? I pulled my nose cone off today to test fit....I then to make sure....turned it off...then turned it on and repacked everything..

During testing I modded the code to be more tolerant of nose cone re-positioning. It's possible to spoof it, but not likely.

I flew mine for the first time yesterday, Estes Nike Smoke to 3000 ish ft on a H123SK...normally that's a long walk for a 1.2 lb. motor eject rocket, chute release set at 600ft, worked as advertised, meh, I'd say 100 or 125 yards away...not too shabby!ImageUploadedByRocketry Forum1453732283.389633.jpgImageUploadedByRocketry Forum1453732308.577720.jpg
Great product John Beans! This one is a game changer! Congratulations! And thank you!

Got mine today.
Super excited to fly the Blue Angel again!
Thanks, John, for a really cool innovation.

Received mine today! I think I'm going to need a BIGGER rubber band! lol

Also got one, direct from John/Jolly Logic.

Wow, the product, packaging, and presentation are all absolutely top-notch. MUCH more "professional" than just about any other rocketry product out there. Dinked around a bit and it's all very intuitive, easy to "get", and smooth. Looks like this will be a winner for sure. Can't wait to start flying it - I'm certain I'm going to love it.

Now, the big question for me (and the one I've been whining about all through the development/anticipation stage): will this work in 38mm airframes??? Finally I get to put my own hands on one and see for myself. And the answer is............................................................mostly kinda yes.
As expected, yes the unit itself fits into a 38mm airframe. And also as expected, it does not leave a whole lot of room for anything else (like a parachute!). But HOW much was what I wanted to know. And now that I've played with it a bit, I can say that with some VERY careful and creative packing, and with chutes/wraps no bulkier than they absolutely have to be, it DOES look like it can work. This makes me happy, because for my purposes this unit is the perfect thing for a bunch of 38mmAF whoosh-pop rockets I've got. It's great that it will also work for larger rockets, but it's these that I really had in mind when I first heard of the ChuteRelease. It will definitely require some extra attention to pack just right, but it CAN work and that's what I wanted.

I'm pleased.

Thanks John for dreaming this up, for making it a reality, and for offering it up to all of us in such a refined, high quality way. Very sweet.

Do me a favor... Post pics of your packing technique for those 38mm tubes!

Yes, definitely share your techniques!

Did you try a "blow test" via the engine mount?
