I realize something!
When I get into my truck I plug the iPhone in, it can operate the navigation, entertainment, communication, etc.
It is the first generation R2 unit!

Yup, my iPhone controls the Sync3 in my Ford. The only problem I have is when I'm carplay, and the regular menu is up with the map on the left and the three headers on the right, tha map isn't functioning. When you set the map to full screen it works fine. Just not in split screen. Oh well.
