Way to go John :) Sounds like things are going fine right now.
Cheers

Continued prayers and best wishes. It is good that you have a plan in place now. It will certainly help in knwoing what is going on.

John and Yvette,
continue to enjoy those walks. Spirits remaining upbeat in the face of danger is tough but worth it.
continued positive vibes from
Andy and Elana

Go with purple - purple is a very under-utilized color!

Really - it's great to hear that the plan is in place, and she's in good spirits. Positive mental attitude is the key to facing any challenge!

I put a ribbon on for your wife.

Dan. Where and when are you launching it. Yvette's mom lives in Cape Coral and works on the Sanibel Bridge. I KNOW she would go and see it launch!

It went up this past weekend at the Winter Nationals. Next time your in Cape Coral let me know.

I'm so glad that her spirits are up and things are looking positive.

We will keep you both in our prayers and continue to send you all of the positive carma that we can!

Keep taking those long walks, talking and listening to each other. Love and togetherness is sometimes the best medicine there is.

Spirits slipped a bit today.

She went to see the radioligist today and it looks like the whole surgery plan will change.
Instead of being able to do everything (Bi lateral plus re-construction), it looks like she'll have to have the bi-lateral and then go through Chemo and radition, then re-construction. That means she'll have to have two major operations instead of one and the whole process could be about 8-12 weeks longer than anticapated.

Needless to say she's pretty upset. I'm sure tomorrow she'll be better but for now, she's pretty blue.

John,

I just got back from Winter Nationals. As I started reading the new posts to this thread I was happy to hear the good news. Then your last post was not-so good. I sorry Yvette will have everything dragged out a little longer. At least you guys have a real plan now.

Prayer continue from the Maniac family!!!!!!!!!

We had yet another appointment with the surgeon yesterday. He helped "put to bed" the issue with not being able to do radiation after re-construction. We have since dropped the smaller facility in Sprinfield and are concentrating our efforts with Dana-Farber in Boston. So we are back with the origianl plan of having a total bi-lateral and total re-construction at the same time.
Nothing against the other center, it's just we're happier with technology that Dana-Farber is able to provide us.

She has about three appointments left before surgery on March 2nd. From all that we know, it takes about a year for her to recover fully. Her spirits are up these days now that we know we're back on track. I am closing thrustaero.com from March 1 until April 7th. She'll be home recovering and running back and forth to Boston (me being the driver) so I'll be pretty busy between work and helping her recover.

John, Yvette,

While its true we don't know each other, know that prayers and thoughts have gone out to you both... and a prayer of thanks, too. Thanks for your willingness to share your life like this. And thanks for your personal inspiration to me... no kidding.

My wife and I have gone through some of this too (not nearly to the degree you two have!). And I know it can shake you up. But you guys are handling it beautifully. And that gives strength to people like my wife and me.... and I'm sure others.

warmest regards

Karl

Off to Boston again yesterday. We met with the Oncologist, Radiologist, Surgeon’s head nurse and Genetics specialist. It was a long day indeed. Yvette and I left the house at about 7AM for a 10AM appointment. Didn't get home until 7PM. We were lucky the weather behaved. There is nothing worse than driving a hundred miles in bad weather trying to keep an appointment. For anyone who hasn’t experienced the “Mass Pike” you’re lucky. Instead of handing out fare tickets at the toll booth (when you first get on) they should hand out Paxil instead. Mass drivers are not known for their driving skills.

Everything is still going as planned. Next Friday she’ll be in surgery and as you can imagine, the reality of it all is starting to gang up on her. She usually likes to drive (so I can navigate) but yesterday on the way home, we had to pull off because she was pretty upset. Still, an occasional joke seemed to help, I know she just wants to put this all behind her.

My boss has been really good about all of this. I met with him the other day and he basically told me that when she gets out of surgery, I can be there for her as long as I need to be and not to worry about work. Support has been great all around except with Yvette’s boss. He hasn't approached her about it, and we’re not really quite sure why. Maybe he’s having a hard time with it...we’re just not sure.

We have one more appointment next week (Tues) with her plastic surgeon. He will have conferred with the Radiologist by this time and decide if re-construction during surgery will be a viable option. Hopefully it is as it would save her from going back and having surgery at a later date. I probably won’t post anything more until after her surgery on March 2nd.

Thanks to all of you for your support, thoughts, and prayers.

JR

John, I hope all goes well for Yvette. Good luck and Gods Speed.

The occasional joke helps alot. I ended up paralysed from the waist down due to an illness almost 13 years ago. We still joke about it, helped back then helps now.

Take Care.

Sounds tough but things are going as they should. i am glad your boss supports you.
Cheers
Fred

Well, it's the day after surgey. The primary surgen said that an intial disection of one of her lymph nodes showed no sign of cancer. The final lab report will come in 8 days but at this point, radiation may not be needed!
She was in surgery for a total of 9 hours yesterday. In recovery by 5PM. I spoke to her briefly but she was heavly sedated still. Even so, I saw a small smile as I whispered in her ear about the great news (and other things).
I went back to see her at 9PM and she was awake and a little groggy due to her morphine pump. Her spirits are high and more to come....

Great news!!!! I was hoping you'd have time to update us, thanks. Tell Yvette we're all thinking of her (and you).

Hang in there. ;)

thank God. I hope it continues to go just as well :)
Cheers

Excellent News!!! Prayers and good thoughts continue to come your way.

That's awesome news John!!! Stay positive mate, we're all behind the both of youse all the way.

Best regards ...... Pete

Wow - great news! Hopefully the full lab results will back up the preliminary results. Keep her smiling, and tell her there's a legion of rocketeers praying for her!

It has now been three days since her surgery and she is getting stronger every day. Today was a huge leap forward as she has walked about 100' (total) Still pretty sore but they have found a good combination of drugs that are keeping the pain to a min and still not making here sick to her stomach. She has always had issues with pain killers but this is the first time she has been able to maintain a good balance between pain and nausea.
She may be discharged tomorrow but it all depends on whether or not she can eat and "Process" a full meal. Once she does that we'll be on our way.
