Anyone fly this before? My daughter is looking to get her Jr. L1 and looking for something that she can certify on and can get her the mile high NAR science achievement. Think these can take an H but unsure if 3" is too big to go a mile on an I.

Just got my Jr. L1 on this this Saturday. putting it in Openrocket, it seems doubtful that an I would push this to a mile high. Got right around 2k with an H219, OR shows I132 taking this up to right around 4k

Here is more info for this kit from Madcow:
    https://www.madcowrocketry.com/3-aerobee-hi/

Note the 38mm motor mount - do you have 38mm hardware, or will be ordering single use DMS Aerotech motors?
38mm motor mount can support a very wide range of motors, from G's to J's. DMS single-use motor choices are limited, and don't provide the highest possible impulse for given motor diameter.

For a 3" airframe, even the largest J motor will not hit a mile. You will break mach speed, but top out at right under 5,000 feet in altitude.

To know exactly how high the rocket will go, you will want to run a simulation with OpenRocket (download it for free, if you haven't done so already). The sim .rkt model for Aerobee Hi is available from here: https://www.rocketreviews.com/rocksim-madcow-rocketry-aerobee-hi.html

    Good luck!
