So, as we progress into larger and larger motors and rockets, we all like different things......but FIRE and THUNDER always seem to be pleasing on such a visceral level.

What's YOUR favorite motor for producing a crazy flame:rocket ratio, or for a thunderous roar?

Well watching many rocket launch videos I've written down some of my favorite launches:
I435
M1939
M520- 13.8 sec burn time.
M795- 12.8 sec burn time.
M1450- likely my favorite so far w/ 6.9 sec burn time.

I was surprised how powerful the Estes black powder 29mm motors sounded when I flew a few of those with TRASD in October. A couple of those in a heavy rocket that will stay close to the pad should be one hell of a show.

The Aerotech E23Ts also produced quite a blast, but being RMS 29/40-120 reloads they’d be uneconomical to cluster for maximum effect.

I like flame-rocket ratio
oldest to newest

20+ years ago. AT 54mm K1275 in a fiber glassed cardboard rocket

From 2007 This rocket was built https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/3-min-dia-rocket.107179/ for the soon to be released AT 75mm M650 Pretty good flame length for a Madusa nozzle.

From this years Balls..second flight of the rocket and motor combo..first flight was in 2009..Research 98mm N3400 Swamp Gas

I've always been fond of the AT K550. Small enough to be a fairly common flight, close enough to not be on the away cell pads, and a great producer of flame, smoke and noise.

This is my 4" Madcow Patriot having fun.

The M1450,is this the KBA load that fits the 75/7600 snapring case?

I prefer small block Chevrolet's, naturally aspirated, with at least 10:1 compression. Keep it simple.

More like smoke and noise, but I'm sure you could find a forum that appreciates it.
Here's what we're talking about:

I might be biased, but Sharon's Sparkler for the win...

Rattworks K, sounds like nothing else! (two together is even better!!)

AT K550
AT M1939
Kosdon L1860 I still have several of those. Wish that Frank was still here...

It may be due to the close proximity of the camera and microphone that my club mate set up to capture the flight of one of my birds, but this clip of an Aerotech H250G Mojave Green sounds to me like a TOW anti-tank missile leaving the launcher.

I like the high thrust CTI G motors to max out Class 1 fields. G125R is an awful lot of fun and the G250 is great to get everyone's attention on the field. Motor burnout before you can turn your head!

K550 and J510 are up there for me. E18's are also pretty good noise & flame/size.

K1100T is probably my all time favorite motor - I've flown it more than any other motor.
I was a huge fan of the CTI M2250 C* also, but it is OOP now. I need to try the M2050 propellant x as a replacement.

The AT J570 has a great flame. For reference, the rocket is 6’ tall

though not as loud as the AT motors, I find that the Loki White motors have a larger flame for a given impulse compared to AT

When launch area restricts motor size, I used to fly my Fat Boy on F23FJ and F26FJ motors. They make a nice, loud, rude roar with lots of black smoke taking off. Somewhere*, I have a picture of the FB going up on a White Lightning motor - the flame is twice the length of the rocket.

*actually shot on film. It was a miricle I caught it in frame, because that motor caused it to *scoot*! I need to find all those film pics and rescan.
