Estes Mercury Redstone.. the roll pattern?

Ive got my Estes Mercury Redstone project to the point where I am ready to start on the roll pattern.

I have found a few 'good' pictures to help me visualize what needs to be done.

Also got some Tamiya masking tape which should help some.

My question(s) are is there anything I should look out for?

Do you have any tips?

Anyone have a video on how best to approach this task?
