Congrats to Sam on his L2 also. Check out the Medusa Nozzle.

Sam, the same pics on our shutterfly page are much better TRF requires complete destruction of the resolution to upload.

Had a great time out at hearne as well! Despite forgetting to bring along a couple VERY important items that grounded two of my rockets... Live and learn I guess. :p

Sadly neither of those are mine. (Or is there another Robert H?) Both rockets I flew were on darker motors. G53 fast Jack and I280 dark matter.

Thanks Chris, you have the coolest toys (besides your rockets) ! :) Thanks for sharing, I did see them on the DARS page as well.

Pyrobob, thanks for the video of the X-15 flight!

Dare we start a new launch thread on the tentative Corsicana HP launch at the end of August?

Dare we start a new launch thread on the tentative Corsicana HP launch at the end of August?

I think we probably should. We could rename this thread the DARS discussion thread if everyone wants to keep this one going. :p

Already excited about the launch in August! I'll make sure to bring along ALL the things I need to finally launch my 29mm MD. :)

Well just finished cleaning the hardware from Saturday's launch, so yeah time to start dreaming of the next one.

I just inquired with Suzy about the August launch. Let's see what she has to say and I'll post back.

Sorry for the late DARS / Hearne entries -- been a tough week at the mill.

Thanks for sharing. That ended up being the only flight pics/video of the Cherokee. I mistimed the photo burst on my camera. I've never done the same HP rocket/motor combination before, but that one is going to happen again.

Now, back to the salt mine to earn more motor money! You have a level 2 addiction to support.

Glad someone got the Cherokee on video. All I heard was a countdown starting at 3 or something, and on the second attempt I think. At least I saw it!

Sam, what delay tool were using to drill down your 54 RMS delay element? The one in the photo appears to be a UDDT. Although it's coined as "Universal" it's actually not quite....

Very nice, thank you. What about more pictures of ANDRAC ? That was the best L2 cert flight of the day !

That was the one. Definitely an early deployment, could have used at least another second and maybe two. I think I was bearing down a little too hard with the drill. My sim said 9 seconds and I'll be re-running that a few more times before I fly again.

NICE FIND!! Wish that was the Mill I was referring to!

I have them, wanted to get you and Chris taken care of first since yinz helped out a bunch.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure you should be using the "RDDT" in 54, item number TO82510-2. It's used specifically for drilling RMS delays. Come to think of it, I don't even show that on my site.... I do have the 38mm version (item TO82510-1) for RMS delays but not the 54 https://www.buyrocketmotors.com/aerotech-18-38mm-rms-delay-drilling-tool-rddt/

Take a look here on AT's website https://www.aerotech-rocketry.com/news.aspx?y=2011

Not sure why AT calls the tool you used the "Universal Delay Drilling Tool" as it's not universal, at least not yet. It's only for DMS and RMS-EZ's right now.

Oh my, could you make that picture a little bigger pyrobob ? So I used a right-handed smoke shifter instead of a left-handed one ?

Lesson learned.

I needed to take 5 seconds off my DMS I140 to take it to 9 seconds for my ancient Aquila rocket with the universal drilling tool, not 4 or 6, so I did the last second freehand. Somehow the AT delay elves and the hand drilling tweak all worked out and I got a chute very close to apogee and right at 9 seconds

The old model is going to get a bit of a refinish after the minor repairs from whacking down on the taxiway.

I've reached a point where I am way more comfortable with altimeter deploy than motor deploy. Largely because I don't have to have an accurate sim and take off just the right amount to get the delay I want. It just feels at this point like less to go wrong relying on the altimeter. I understand this is exactly opposite of many people's feelings.
