Here is my entry. A Fat Boy clone with a central 24mm motor tube surrounded by 4 18mm motor tubes. It has flown once with a D12-7 and 4 C6-7s, one C6 did not light but it turned in a great flight anyway.

Paint used was Rustoleum Sunrise Red and Gloss Black and Valspar Bumblee Yellow, the masking was cunstom cut by Mark at Stickershock.

I'll enter my PML Thunder N Lightning.

The electronics and structure have been modified to use larger motors and light the upper stage from the top.

It's first flight was at Midwest power in October on a J350 to an I1299. The sustainer did not light, but all of the electronics functioned like they should. The same motor combo will be attempted again for the next flight.

Way cool...big rockets

My entry is

Real Men Fly Pink Rockets

the Wildman Hobbies Ultimate DarkStar specially built for the Launch for Life
at Red Glare IX a special event to bring attention to and raise money for the
eradication of Breast Cancer.

Well if you are going to work for breast cancer, then you need to work with
pink paint. In this case Auto Air Color Porn Star Pink Sparkalescent over white base
on the body and dark base on the fins and trim. Then six coats of NAPA Crossfire clear polyurethane.
5223015631_d5dba46b0b.jpg

As Part of the dedication to breast cancer survivors, I also wanted to pay note to those who helped
make the flight possible. In particular the people who I've fooled into believing I'm worth a paycheck
every so often.

Something I'm kind of proud of. Pre-flight I had as many survivors of Breast
Cancer as I could find autograph the nose. This is Lori Michael's contribution.

Great day almighty, there's lots of fantastic competition! Some of these should be in the Gallery section, you know!

Just signed up to this great forum after lurking around for many months. A good friend mentioned this contest, so I thought "why not". My entry is my L3 Cert. rocket. It is a Polecat Hobby 10" V-2. It has been detailed out to more closely resemble the true 1/6th scale rocket that it is. Power was an AT RMS M1600R with a RRC2 mini primery and a GWiz as secondary. Both were set to fire at apogee which was at 6686'. It was a textbook flight up and down after two years of off and on construction and ground testing. :) Because of the needed 16lbs. of nose weight for flight balance, the nose cone was on its own 6' chute and the main 14' chute was freebaged from it. Both landed no more than an 1/8th mile away and in perfect condition.

Here's my feeble entry... considering the competition...

My 4x upscale Photon Disruptor. This was the rocket that before I even ever thought about getting into upscaling, I wanted to make this baby bigger.

Oh yea, and I had some girl sign it....

The first 2 pictures are courtesy of Rockets Magazine....the last picture taken by NAHCPJ Photography... the picture with me and Kari... priceless hahaha... no that was taken by Fuddruckers wife...

I flew it at LDRS 29 this past summer. The first flight was on a CTI I-216, perfect flight and recovery... The second flight was on an AT J500G... awesome flight, slight damage on recovery( that ground is so stinkin hard out there), but totally fixable.

looks like the field in rainbow? great launch

Yes it was, back in April of this year. Good call!

BTW, if no one from our club has contacted you, let me be the first to thank you for your gracious contribution of the sticker sets for the door prizes at our GHS launch in Oct. They were very much apprieciated by the people that were lucky enought to win them.

We also had a large rocket display at the AZ State Fair and your business cards went very quickly. Hopefully that will lead to future sales for you.

Thank you again!

YOu are more than Welcome and Thank you VERY much! Wish I could have made it I love that launch.

Here is my entry. It is a LOC/Precision EZI-65, "Ice Dragon King". It has flown on a J315R, I211W, and I161 for each of its flights. Altitudes were 3,872, 2,160, and 1,600 feet respectively. It was signed by Barry Lynch at LDRS 28 in Potter, NY. Other than being converted to dual deployment, there is tip-to-tip fiberglass to protect the fins upon landing. The first picture is of the EZI before launch on the J315 at METRA in April of 2009, the second and third pictures are of the I211 and I161 respectively. The videos are of the J315 flight and recovery.

Yeah just throw in the pretty girl to try and sway the votes... oh wait that was me too.. dang you stole my idea...

GOTTA love a disruptor, one of my SERIOUS all time favorites.I have owned MANY. Nice upscale Tim..

the Oops 1 is the first rocket my friends and I built together. Its based off of a fatboy, but with five fins and home made balsa plywood centering rings. Fins were our first attempt at lamination, with printer paper. Next time we'll try freezer paper.

Its first flight was marginally successful, thanks to it being my first launch in 14 degree weather. As a wonderful property of the center of gravity being so far tailward, when the nosecone popped off, despite the parachute never deploying, it lost all ballistic tendencies, and turned into a tumble recovery rocket. Thanks to the oddly low flight (40 feet or so) off a B6-4, and the 2" of snow on the ground, there was not a scratch on the rocket.

Beautiful craftsmanship on all entries presented here, all deserving 1st prizes. I wish I could go HP but I do not have the skills to build such beauties nor the space to store them. But I bring the "David" to compete against the "Goliaths"...

Here is my CEST 2A "The Phoenix". CEST for Centuri Earth-Space Transport. Originally on the front cover of the 1971 Centuri Model Rocket Designers Manual, it never made it into production. According to Mr. Lee Piester, the actual model is a plastic cast which he still has in his office! I extrapolated the measurements based on the tools on the cover and made a clone. Mr. Piester said that my Phoenix was exactly the same size as the plastic cast version and that he never thought it would have made a stable rocket...

The NC is made of solid balsa. The body is made of two planks of balsa with 1 inch wide channels carved with a round router head along the middle. The planks were glued together to form a "hollow" piece of wood then a BT-50 was placed inside. The body and NC were carved and sanded to shape. The main fins have tabs that run into the wooden body. Painted with Old Krylon Banner Red and Tamiya Metalic Charcoal Grey. Custom decals based on the original model and inspired on the Estes Interceptor, printed on an ALPS. Two coats of Future for a final glossy touch. The original build thread can be found here. The original motor mount was removable, originally designed and constructed by Rokitflite, Scott Blanche.

It has about 5 flights on B6-4s and C6-5s, flying straight as an arrow. The last flight was on a C6-5 and the ejection charge did not deploy the parachute after reaching an approximate altitude of 500-600 feet. It "landed" and the only damage was a few scratches on the NC and a slightly crushed motor mount... this rocket is built like a tank.

My proudest moments with this rocket are when a picture of me holding the Phoenix was published on the Nov/Dec 2008 Sport Rocketry Magazine, AND when I was able to show and talk about it with Mr. Piester at the Old Rocketeer Reunion during NARAM 50.

LAST DAY FOR ENTRIES!!

Get your rocket entered into the contest no later then midnight tonight eastern time!

Poll to be posted shortly thereafter or later in the morning! :)

My kids would be amiss if we didn't give our old workhouse a shot at this!
:D

This is a beat up, tried and true Aerotech HV ARCAS kit. It started out completely stock and thru multiple flights and encounters of almost every kind she has had her share of repair work done.

The Spongebob character decals were printed on our old Edge 2 machine, the pencil paint scheme came from the "Frankendoodle" episode.

She mainly flies on 29mm Kosdon G65 Dirty Harry loads, my son's favorite.

So far she has logged 28 flights and still counting.
