I have the first coat of primer on the Vulcan (upscaled Vulcanite). I see few areas with clusters of pin pricks in the 5" FWFG body tubes, but not too bad. The fin bevels look very smooth as do the filets. I still have not decided on a final color though. I was thinking metallic copper for the whole thing initially. Now I want an all white body with copper nose cone and fins. Although orange and white always look good. I have the word "Vulcan" spelled out in a Vulcan script font that would make a nice vinyl decal to break up the simple outline of the rocket. Decisions, decisions ...

Finished up my Launch Controller! There is a continuity LED in the middle of the panel, Volt Meter in the upper right corner, and runs off a 12v LiPo battery. Main On/Off switch automatically goes to off when you close the red cover.

Began prepping for the CTRA Invitational in 2 weeks. I will be away for business the week prior to the launch, so I need to get some stuff ready!

This is my 5.5" Nike Smoke's tail loaded with a central AMW K535RR and 2x G64W air starts.

Pershing2.jpgPershing.jpgI resumed work on my Estes Pershing after 35 years. I don't think my label sheet is good any more....does anyone know where I can get a good quality one?

Cut out the fins for my SkonkWulf. Most of them came out OK, but the strakes aren't quite the same size. But close enough. Went with a BT80H body tube, as that was what I had in house. Landing on the tar at Muncie calls for a little beefier body anyway. Need to go to HL to get the 1/8 inch dowel. Thought I had some, but turned out all I had was some 3/16. Calling it a day. Will tackle glueing the fin pieces together and sealing them another day.

Looks like a great day to be launching rockets! And a nice launch field. How much room is there?

Thanks, the day started with rain, but it let up at around noon, so we were able to walk to the Feild, which is only 3/4 of a Mile from my House. I don't know the exact dimensions on the Feild, but I'de say it's an easy 300 Yards of clear area. It's our Towns Rec Feild, and features a Soccer Feild, a Baseball Diamond and then this big nothing area. I like it, and have the feeling I will be doing most of my Launches there.

I filled some pin holes int he body tube with Green Stuff and then proceeded to sand the Vulcan down. The main body tube has some fine tangential voids between the FG fibers on the surface. It will probably take an extra coat of primer to get those all smoothed out.

I also cleaned the rest of my 35 year old rockets (recently re-united with me), glued a fin on my old SCUD and am prepping to launch for my eight year olds amusement (and mine)collection.jpg

Laid out the fillets on my Madcow Frenzy Massive. Sanded...and sanded...and sanded the barn door fins on my Mega Der Red Max.

I flew mine yesterday on a D12-3 with 1oz of clay in the nose. It was a great flight - slow off the pad - really impressive. Can't wait to try an F50.

Put the finishing custom vinyl on my Quest High-Q build. I like the way it turned out.

Really happy with this one's finish.

Taking a day off to recover after doing a 2600km ( 1600 mile ) road trip to visit a friend and pick up some rocket parts :)

Left Friday morning, arrived home Monday night.

Finished an Estes Darth Vader Tie Fighter, a Quest Courier, and a Semroc Cherokee C. Got the Enerjet Athena clone ready for paint. I'd hoped to go up and fly a few at B6-4 Field, but I just didn't have it in me after the party.:eyeroll:Getting old, I guess.

Finished the fillets on my Der Red Max, got the main body minus the 'couplers' on the Estes Asteroid Hunter, pondered the upcoming Mega Mosquito build, and hoping that the other 3 b-day gifts from my niece and nephew arrive safe, sound, and un-squished!
