Tips and Rules:
  1. Items that are aerospace-oriented (rocketry, R/C, control-line, etc) are acceptable for listing in this area. It is strongly encouraged that pictures be included when posting items for sale.
  2. Motors and other items with shipping restrictions are not to be listed for sale unless you have the legal ability to ship them, or you are offering them for local pickup only.
  3. The software will require a prefix that all threads have a prefix of "[For Sale]" or "[Wanted]" to reflect which category the listing is in. Please add the appropriate prefix. For more on prefixes.
  4. After you've sold your items, please remember to go back and edit the thread to indicate the items are Sold. To do this, go to your initial post and click the "Edit Post" link. Then, under the editor box that pops up, click "Go Advanced" to get to the prefix options. Change your prefix to "Sold", save your changes, and you're done.
  5. Regarding comments about sellers, If you are not involved in a transaction with the seller or do not have current experience (last 6 months) with that seller, stay out of the conversation. Violation of this will result in infractions being issued.
  6. Please do not post open remarks such as "You can buy it from XYZ for less" in the Yardsale section. This type of comment is tacky and discourages people from buying the item. Send them a PM/conversation instead. If you don't have an interest in what's being sold, then please, stay out of the thread.
  7. When items have sold, mark them sold but do not delete them from the thread. The goal is to keep them on the forum as a reference for others that are trying to sell an item.
  8. You have 30 days to edit the threads. Please do not delete or remove the text after a sale.
  9. If something has been sold and you cannot edit it, please report it to the mods for editing so we can clean this place up. Use the word "report" after the post.
  10. Please bump your yardsale thread every month to let us know it is still for sale or it will be marked "sold" or "found".
  11. For Sale” items must have a price in the post. Users can report items without a price for deletion. TRF is not an auction site, so asking for bids is verboten.
  12. Effective immediately, posters to the yard sale must have been a member for 30 days and have 20 posts OR be a Supporting Member. This is to cut back on link spamming.
  13. Please do not destroy threads. Once sold, just change the prefix. Do not change the context. We will use this forum as a record of the price and sale.
  14. Please do not remove the selling price and replace it with “SOLD”. Members use this forum as a reference. When you remove the price, you are removing the long-term value of your thread.

Hello,

The Yard Sale section needs to be cleaned up. A lot of threads that were submitted as "Wanted" or "For Sale" are now "Found" or "Sold". Please report any that you find so we can change the prefix. It will make the forum better for all of us to use.

Hello Chuck,

Are you asking folks to make the changes themselves via Thread Tools to change, for example, from "For Sale" to "Sold", OR to have ADMIN do it? I've changed my own in the past, so I'm unclear here.

BTW, thank you for changing the forum to add/allow the "Edit" function for For Sale/Wanted items. It makes it much easier to correct errors, add supplemental information to a listing, and to change price if needed.

Thank you!

Sam

I have a few posts that were placed since the site changed and really couldn't figure out how to change the title. Any of my queries are found, sold or otherwise.
Please advise how to edit said titles. T I A

It is easy to edit the title.

You can edit them yourself or report them and we will edit them for you.

Yard sale tip and trick #9: You want to view only items that are a particular prefix? Click on the prefix box and it will sort to only those items. For example, if I clock on the "for sale" prefix it the forum will filter out other items.

As an international reader of the forum could I ask for people to post the location of the item (or at least where they're prepared to post it to) in the subject of the post? Finding EU items in a sea of US items is tough :)

@cwbullet There are two issues that doesn't solve:
  1. Seeing the location in the subject of the post so that it's visible in the post list.
  2. Noting where the seller is prepared to post the item to. Some sellers may be willing to post whole rockets, others may only accept collection.

Add: If something has been sold and you cannot edit it, please report it to the mods for editing so we can clean this place up.

Ok, if you have an item for sale, please let me know when it has sold so I can change prefix. Please look though them and if you have decided not to sell, let me know. I am contemplating change anything over 6 mos old to sold.

why not, then, just delete the threads? these / this forum, I find, have no historical value..

The historical value is for pricing and to document items purchased. Remove them and they are gone forever.

Please see rule 10. There are too many open items for sale that are no longer available. Please update threads with a post that the items are still for sale each month.

By popular request we have added a rule: 11. “For Sale” items must have a price in the post. Users can report items without a price for deletion.

Added 14: “Please do not remove the selling price and replace it with “SOLD”. Members use this forum as a reference. When you remove the price, you are removing the long term value of you thread.”

Warning: I don’t care how inflated someone’s price is, it is in poor form to tell someone on the open forum. Send a message by PM or just ignore it and move on.
