Wondering if anyone might have recommendations on fiberglass wall thickness for a transonic rocket. In my feeble mind I would like to build less than 4" diameter tube. What thickness would you suggest?

Thx. Paul

all of the commercially available tube will stand up to mach flight in it's unaltered form with a few notable exceptions: Estes (and like) and Quantum.

Most hobby-level Mach-busters are <4" diameter. Check out a Madcow Go Devil or a Wildman Blackhawk 38. Both should easily break mach on an I motor.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. 75% of the enjoyment I get from rocketry is the design and build. While I would love to roll my own tubes, I think the smart choice and the economical choice would be to purchase.

As for fins, they are overrated. I don't think the RSO would notice. ;)

Ohhh, I think s/he'd notice. Mach is very hard on fins, so you'd better use 3/16" titanium with integral cast fillets/flanges, secured to the tube with 1/4" hardened bolts, at least one bolt through each flange per 2" of fin root. :D;)
