Where are you at? I mean you don't have to be specific. Out west with wide open spaces or elsewhere? Be aware that technically your project must come down within the waiver radius. If not and the TAP or L3C is a stickler, your flight is a failure if it lands outside the waiver. High alt screamers in the Midwest have very limited places to go and going with big, heavy, slow and low can lead to storage issues. Going high? Better to practice your tracking chops long before the L3 attempt. If doing GPS tracking, you should send some rockets up to totally sight unseen land and see if you can find them. If going with 900mhz trackers make sure they perform for you. If flying on the playa, the ham stuff should have a better ground footprint but if you get a last position fix with the rocket 50 - 100 feet in the air, you have a good chance to find it no matter what you use. The only exception to this is the 900mhz Multitronix tracker. It has exceptional performance but a price tag to match. Kurt
