I prefer krylon gloss but opinions vary.

Then what I'm using will surely work (2K Clear Glamour). So was this vinyl traveling a 2.7 Mach, small individual graphics or a wrap of sorts, big sheets? Picture? post Mach?

Mine personally about Mach 1.3-1.5. 3 & 4” rockets with individual lettering. Some with no clear and no peeling. Can’t speak about Mach 2.7.

My addition to the (long and growing) list of "Mark's a great guy" posts:

I myself was actually not much of a SS23 customer...I only bought a couple of relatively small things. My own style is such that vinyl graphics/coverings were never much of a need in my fleet. But, when I did need "a little something" Mark was of course the go-to-guy. And of course his work was EXACTLY what I needed, his pricing was great, and his service was above-and-beyond. Nothing but accolades from me here.

Where I really appreciated Mark has been as a fellow flyer at launches (usually out on Jean Dry lakebed), and as a fellow TRF member here on this forum. And in these areas Mark has absolutely been "a great guy". One of the best in fact. Way fun, super knowledgeable, generous to a fault, and always a pleasure to be around.

With these factors in mind, my own concern is much more for Mark as a person, rather than Mark as a vendor of something I want to buy. So.......

Mark....you are obviously appreciated as a great vendor here; know that. But also know that you are appreciated as a fellow flyer and a PERSON who is part of this community. Know that absolutely. Take care of yourself, and your family, and do whatever is necessary to improve your situation. Even if that means leaving us all "flying naked", either temporarily or permanently as the case may be. I mean, jeez, it's just rockets after all. And if the SS23 shutdown is permanent, do still show up and fly at Jean Lake, and do still post here on the forum. (I know of at least one person who posts here who doesn't even fly any more!)

The rest of you.....You all keep saying that Mark didn't charge enough (which is true), well you better damn sure be happy with whatever new pricing structure and policies he comes up with if and when he reopens SS23. DO support his new business model, and DO keep ordering as much as you ever did, and DO NOT complain or get in his face about it. He is worth it and you know it. If you can't afford what he has to offer, then keep your mouth shut and just move along. There's lots of things I want in life that I can't afford...oh well. And there's LOTS of things in life that are way more important than cool graphics on hobby rockets.

Peace and rockets,
s6

Hello Mark,

I am very sorry to hear about your wife's medical situation. I cannot begin to imagine what you and your family are going through. I will keep all of you in my prayers. And, I hope you do not mind if I submit a prayer request to my church for your family.

I have availed myself of your services twice. And in each instance your prompt responses, attention to detail, speedy turnaround time and quality of finished product have been amazing. Thank you.

I am also very sad to hear that it has been necessary to basically apologize to customers for putting your family before your services to the rocket community. With my 20+ years of customer service experience (in several different industries) I CAN imagine at least some of feelings you have experienced in dealing with the kinds of individuals that made your mass email necessary. I feel for you in this regard.

Be at peace and keep the faith.

Tobor.

My kids and I have loved seeing rockets Mark's worked on or brought himself at launches. I hope we see him (and his epically stickered trailer) at many future launches too. I definitely understand *ahem* crummy customers (I even shut down a business because of them). Maybe we should share stories.

Better yet, maybe the hobby as a whole can come up with a way to, ummm, motivate customers to kindly remember how fragile this hobby is and how grateful we should all be that any vendors at all spend their valuable time giving to the hobby.

I think these are a couple photos of rockets with Mark's work on them (maybe Mark's rockets?). It's always cool to see great looking rockets.View attachment 369905 View attachment 369906

Great pic GrouchoDuke !

Yes, that is Marks handiwork ..you can really see the glint of the reflective stickers on it even in flight .

Mark is a real enthusiast and it shows in his work and flying !20171021_140909_Burst01.jpg 20171022_111311_HDR.jpg

A great mentor of mine says that when the customer complains you should up the price. When the customer complains about the price increases you should increase the price again and every time there after. Works in the gun industry well enough to chase off tire kickers and favor seakers.

Is there a gofundme for Mark to help support him and his wife? I'd give retroactively for his services just to say thanks for being a great guy

There was one for her first bout, someone here started it. Think it was shut down but I guess it’s easy enough to start another.

I want to thank each and every one of you for the VERY KIND AND SUPPORTING WORDS
I would love to thank each person one at a time.. but I it would take us days..
I know I dont post here as much as I should.. I WILL TRY TO POST MORE OFTEN STARTING NOW!
Yes the go fund me page is still up and I BELIEVE its working. I have had many ask how they can donate and help.. That would be the way to do it..

https://www.gofundme.com/stickershock23

Thank you for all that have donated, it has been very helpful,

STICKERSHOCK23.com

Ok heres the big news.. I WILL BE OPENING THE STORE AND WEBSITE VERY SHORTLY.. (just gotta get with my webmaster to get it done)
We will be back open for business hopefully within the next 24 hours.. thank you for your patience!

there will be some small changes.. again MOSTLY to how custom orders will be handled and Priced!

QUICK BREAK DOWN..

My design time will be $50.00 an hour (minimum 30 mins)

THIS WILL BE FOR ALL CUSTOM REQUESTS. I may ask for it up front, be prepared for that when contacting me please..

I HAVE THE RIGHT TO WAVE THAT FEE AT MY DIGRESSION.. (I will wave it for MANY things.. such as VERY simple changes, CUSTOMER HAVING ART OR ALL INFORMATION READY TO GO!!, IF its an item I would probably add to my website etc!! )

I will NOT charge for simple changes.. "hey can you make this decal... but in green instead of blue" Yep no charge.. " can you change the serial number to XXX.YYY" YES NO CHARGE..

PRINCES ON SMALLER ITEMS WILL REFLECT MINIMUM CHARGES.. they are NOT priced by size.. they are priced by DIFFICULTY to create and to make.. and the smaller things are the more difficult they are to make.. PERIOD! YES I love doing them for you.. but they will cost based on these things..

I WILL BE CLOSED SOME DAYS! I know I have always tried to respond ASAP.. I CAN'T continue to do that.. FIrst I gotta have some time off just to purge etc. PLUS I have to have days to do Doctors appointments etc..

WE ARE looking into some new machines so we CAN do some more specialty things.. such as print whites chromes and silvers.. THIS WILL GREATLY reduce the costs of SMALLER reproductions etc. BUT IT IS VERY COSTLY (YEP MORE THAN MY LARGE FORMAT PRINTER) so it might be a while.. but its in the works!

for now this about covers it,

again WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT, I SERIOUSLY was ready to just be done with it.. but all of you have really helped me realize how much you like what I do and how much you support us in return.. THIS TRULY IS THE BEST HOBBY AROUND!

Mark and Marian..
"Never fly naked"

After reading through this thread. I saw the stuff about traveling mach..

I've done several decals for rockets doing high mach attempts..

If applied to a clean dry smooth surface they will handle quite a bit of speed. I have been told up. To mach 2.7.BUT if the rocket stays at those speeds for more than briefly, they will stay stuck but tend to melt from the heat!

They might bubble a bit from that and they won't be the same after. But they won't just peel off..

Adding a clear coat over them will make them handle this much better.. Especially if you sand and smooth intill you cannot reel the edges of the decals!

FYI: Yes, the GoFundMe is still active. https://www.gofundme.com/stickershock23 Mark just got notification that the most recent donations are inbound to his account now. When I set this up, I gave Mark sole access to the funds. Aside from GoFundMe's fees, Mark and Marian get it all. I'm saddened as we all are by the recurrence, but I'm glad I left the page up. I'll be adding an update blurb when Mark gets it to me.

Hi Mark,

I’m so glad to hear that you are not going to shutdown permanently. You have done beautiful work for many of my large high power projects. Everyone at the launches comments about great my rockets look. A lot of that praise should go to you.

Mark you are really helping all of the kit manafactures. Their products wouldn’t look nearly so good if they weren’t dressed up with your decals.

All the best,
Bob

Yup! Stickershock is definitely open!

I had an email saying my lettering order was shipped less than 24 hrs after placing!

So now that Stickershock isn't closed,.....maybe the thread should? :D

I just received my recently placed order with Stickershock the other day.
Mark is definitely open, and doing great work, as always.

It may be worthwhile to edit the thread's name to avoid future confusion!

Good idea.

Done.

Great to see Stickershock back in action -- and things going better for Mark.

Hopefully everybody will remember that the great majority of vendors are not doing it to rake in the big big bucks, but because they love the hobby. So have a little patience -- and also remember the vendors usually have lots of other orders to fill -- give them adequate lead time and things usually turn out great

Thank you everyone again for all the support.

Many orders coming in... so im a bit backed up but im trying to get them out and still take care of Marian and all the other things!

a little slower than normal so thanks for being patient! but im happy to be able to get everyone Shocked!

Just made my order!!! Hope you and Marian are doing good.
