It was mentioned to me a month ago that the new Hobbyline case and closure threads are different than the older versions. At least for the 29/40-120. So I looked at mine, and they are different. 2 threads vs 3. And they are not interchangeable. Is anyone else having problems interchanging closures? received_10156469157313200.jpeg

Yes, these are mine above and the new ones won't fit the old ones. And by old, it was just old stock I bought new from Mike at BAR from the trailer. The other was "new" new from Wildman. Threads are different. each rear closure will go on their "own" case, but not on the other. New "new" has what appears to be one more thread. at a different pitch

are these for both 29/40-120 cases, or one 29/40-120 and one 29/120 case? They have different closures and are not interchangeable.

They are both for the Hobbyline 29/40-120. You can see the wrench cutouts on the sides and no knurling. And the 29/120 closure has twice as many threads.

Are the forward closure threads different too? I'll be checking mine when I get home as I have both old, new and Dr. Rockets versions.

I haven't found any issues with reloads fitting and flying in either of the cases in question.

But I just went out and checked 3 of the 4 cases I have. And I found some odd results.

The lighter colored aft closures fit all three cases. The darker aft closure in the center will not fit the Wildman etched case. But fits the other two.

One of the three forward closures will not fit the Wildman case. But all three fit the other two cases. All three forwards look the same, other then some anodizing missing from the threads.

The center case has a really shiny finish compared to the other two that have more of a brushed anodized finish.

I'm not sure why the newer Wildman marked case is having issues. The case threads look fine, and the other closures fit fine.

Yes, my oddball (I have four cases as well) is the new Wildman one. The other older ones are from Sirius and Hobbylinc and all the old ones have the lighter colored brass. So, same issue you are describing. I'm waiting on an RMA unit from AT as well, so we will see if that one is the light or dark colored brass.

I have older silk screened logo cases that have the darker color rear closure with 2 threads. My Dr. Rockets with black rear closure also has 2 threads. My newer cases with the lighter color rear closures have 3 threads. It also appears my forward closures had different threads.

Those cases were made for use by aero tech 2 years ago.
They should have been made to the same specs as the rest to me knowledge.
If you contact Karl at aero tech they should be able to help
