Make final ejection charge test on the ground, after few non satisfying Pyrodex one, I switch to BP, way more constant in results

I received a mystery box in the mail. I get to find out what's inside tomorrow. (Thanks Secret Santa!)

I fixed a friends 70cm BigRedBee GPS, after he had to be "extra convincing" to get it out of a nose cone. After his rocket "lake darted", it got jammed into the nose cone. A crystal and a capacitor didn't survive the following removal procedure. On a side note, we know now that a BRB can work even under water (including GPS lock), as long it is close to the surface.

Greg was so kind to send some spare parts. Thanks for that!

The pictures are from before repair job (I'm not that bad at soldering). The interesting looking part is a crystal with it's innards exposed, the chaotic mess was once a capacitor.

Today was day 3 of my "Tree Fodder" builds. Because my local club has a monthly launch at a small field, I decided to do a bunch of builds specifically for that field. I've grown tired of flying only minis and micros there, and decided I needed to beef up the fleet with larger birds that can use higher impulse, but would not be a great loss if they landed in the trees.

So I went to my stash of Estes kits that have been collecting dust for many years and pulled out the 3/4NC ones. Since work has been very light all week, I've been knocking off a build a day.

Monday: Big Daddy
Tuesday: Mega Sizz'
Today: Bullpup

Only thing I did today was open a box that I received in the mail today - Contents - Estes Saturn V. Wonderful box of goodness.

Went to Harbor Freight today. Got a new self darkening helmet for welding. My old one was a cheap first generation version and this new one is much nicer. Lighter is a big thing, no batteries UV powered so the welding itself runs the shade. I also bought an aluminum frame case for the Tour De' Deuce souvenirs.
It's very overstuffed red case is bursting at the seams and the "latch" clip is broken. It won't be flown on the 4th :( I have fresh C6-3 motors on the way from HobbyLinc, I only have 3 of varying dates so I thought new motors were in order.

Book a motel for Friday night, Lev 3 certification Saturday :horse: , 6 hours drive

Added red band internal to engine pod on Sirius 24mm Interrogator
Sanded 2 of 4 Cosmodrome Nike Smoke fins
Sealed fins on Pemberton 3FNC

Cast 3400g of North Alabama White propellant for a 75/6000 motor for AIRFest. This one was Bates, next up is a moon burner for the same motor.

Delivered a AT hook to Fyrwrx Dave , showed off my BlackOp 38 after the first coat of primer to him.

Then went to Wally world for primer and then home depot for masking paper and sand paper .

I remember reading in the novelization of Star Wars (the first movie) about the glass in the Millennium Falcon darkening when an explosion occurred nearby. Now it's real.

weight and balance my Pac-3, ready to launch Saturday , also pack the stuff for the same event

Finished carving off the broken parts of the Deuce98 booster and started sanding off the fillets, etc.

I drank a beer. Well, I am not done with it yet. I anticipate it will take 35-40 minutes.

Slapped together a couple of Alpha III kits from my leftover rocket class stock to give to a couple kids who will be flying with my son and I on Saturday. Hopefully get a couple new converts to the hobby....

Charged up the battery in the launch box, and generally got stuff ready for the Saturday launch.

Shrox,

Do you ever build rockets just for yourself, just for the pure pleasure of it? I mean other than virtual ones?

NO! Rockets are bad, pointy and dangerous! Wait, bad, pointy and dangerous? I am so there!

Yes, I do build and fly actual rockets. The Johnny Space Commander is the most recent. The SkonkWulf I had built and flown a few years ago.

Did some sanding on the Piranha and Fantom. May be about ready to hit with some primer.

Sanded down the Big Daddy I built a year ago in preparation for giving it a better paint job.

I wish I hadn't put in that Estes motor clip and engine block when I built it because now I'd like to fly it with a 24mm F32 SU motor. But it's too long.

Was you Big Daddy kit an older one that only took Estes D-sized motors? I just tried a used F32 casing in my Estes Executioner that was built in 2001, and the case fits just fine on the stock build.
