Nope, May 9

Also, I should point out that I LOVE this thread, and definitely want to keep it going. So here is what I plan on doing rocket-wise today:

Sand primer off Interceptor E
Sand primer off Hi-Flyer
Paint AT HV Arcas
Paint AT G-Force
Read TRF

HA!!! YOU'RE WRONG!!!It was May 8th :p Be that as it may I stand corrected. I guess we all do things for our own reasons, even rockets. I got my last can of powder about 20 years ago and a length of cannon fuse I got at a Ralph's Hobby, long gone, and there black iron pipe and nipples on the property in different places. Thing is these days I could be searched and charged with have bomb ingredience. Even with all the stuff in different places.

Bought a box of 1,000 epoxy stirring sticks. :)

Now, I just need to replenish the epoxy stock!

Ordered two more 24mm AT RMS cases to replace a lost and destroyed one. It is nice to have a couple around. I have yet to build a motor out at the launch site, and hope to avoid doing so.

I am still drooling over the closures on the AT 29/180 case. They are so massive, which leads me to a question. The Estes 29MM retainer can only make almost a full turn on the threads with that thick aft closure. It feels secure, but should I be concerned?

They are fine.

Received my Rocket Tracking electronics from Com-Spec today... very nice!

What model receiver did you get? I recently got the transmitter (AT-2B) from Jack with What's up Hobbies. He had sold his last receiver and was out of stock. I used his to track down my L-2 cert. rocket, worked like a charm.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's the 300 model receiver because when you enlarge the attached image, it shows channel 323.

Nice rig. Cheaper than replacing the rocket, the hardware, the electronics, etc., or renting a small plane to search the area.

I finished sanding the second coat of primer on a Thunder Strike.
Applied the final coat of flat black to a Sprite, which will be tangerine and black.
Applied final primer to a Der V1.5.
Sat and looked at a Texas Firefly and Aero-Dart that want final paint.

I picked up the R-300A receiver, along with the AT-2B transmitter (R-300 frequencies).

Yep, not a bad price for a little peace of mind... and, our field requires a tracking device on anything that travles over 5,000ft May be less than that...

Shipped out some Sky Ripper 29mm loads, as well as some hardware I'm no longer using.

....and I need epoxy, too!

I applied some CA to the fin fillets of the Aerotech Sumo I finished building this weekend last night. Tonight I am building a custom 29mm motor mount for an Estes V2 that I just bought this weekend. ;-)

Hi, new guy :) Good place to start posting.

Received my Rocketflite Cluster Fire Igniter Kit. Time to fly my 24mm Tres on three F24 White Lightning reloads.

Sanded the fillets on my Vindicator. I haven't worked on it for a while and I think the colloidal silica has morphed into concrete.

Painted the contrasting color on my Formula 98.

Got the threaded rod embedded in the Formula 75 nose cone.
Glued the nose cone shoulder on.
Glued the terminal block to the nose cone base bulkhead.
Reading about the Arduino

Put the decals (from Excelsior) on my Advanced Target Drone clone. Also worked on my Squirrel Works Dragonfire (glued fins and launch lugs).

Went out with the wife and kids and launched some rockets this evening.First up was a Estes RTF Code Red on a B 6-4.Textbook flight. Next was another RTF (Pop-Pop got them for the kids when Wally World had them at Christmas)a Estes Shooting Star on a B 6-4 .As much as I dislike RTF rockets these flew and recovered very good.Next up was the Scissor Wing Transport good lift off good pod ejection, the glider had other ideas and bee-lined into the top of a tree:y:After that the Estes X-Prize Thunderstar became my first cluster launch on a pair of Quest B 6-4s wow ripped into the sky and went out of sight.then floated gently down...into the road:eyepop. The wife managed to recover it before it got squashed. Next on the pad was a Semroc Starship Vega which suffered some small flesh wounds i.e. missing a small canard fin and a broken landing gear leg. Both are simple fixes and lastly we launched a Sunward Mercury Lander Jr.also on a Quest B 6-4.All in all we had good flights. It is always sad to leave a rocket behind. We also took a few more but I being a "squirming hatch blower" didn't launch them.

Hehehe...so the next question is, how many people were rubber-necking on the way to the school?

That's the scary thing, nobody besides the kids seemed to notice....

Back at work on a project away from my rocket stash. Supposed to be a quick one, only 2 weeks here. Means I wont be building and I miss both June launch dates at NASA though. :sigh: Remember kids, stay in school and get a job that lets you have a life....

Thinking maybe Southern Thunder is in order... Mapquest says it's only a 12 hour drive.....
