What did you do rocket wise today?

Spending the day sanding the DAP Fast'N Fill Lightweight Spackeling I use for filler. I have 15 rockets and boosters to sand down :/

When I go on a building tear I can't stop until I'm out of stuff. I have two planned scratch and two kits to build, that should last me until the start of the month. I plan on replenishing my depleted stock of tubes and nosecones. SEMROC and Uncle Mike otta be happy with me :)

Got the front bulkhead mounted and glassed in on the 20 mill and got the new nose plug carved out.

Weighed the parts for the 5" Jart with the avbay extension. 10 lbs. 6 oz. for just the fiberglass parts! I have a bunch of 9/16" tubular nylon for the recovery but will probably need a 6 ft. chute when everything is added up. This will be Sharons Level 2 rocket, and she builds on the heavy side like me, so it might end up around 15 lbs. We talked about doing a build thread with lots of pic's so look for this sometime this summer.

Poked around in Openrocket today and made a 4" diameter Warlock. I think it will be built to replace my Squat. That, or a 4" Doorknob.

Walked in "Rocket Room" looked at the pile and thought,"Nah,not tonight".
Searched Ebay for rocket,rockets,rocketry,rocket parts,rocket lot,rocket rocket,rocket nose cone,rocket EVERYTHING...
Logged on to TRF.

Drove way too far out of my way to the only bricks and mortar hobby store in the area so I could pay way too much for not exactly the motors I wanted, all because the slow truck from Georgia has not arrived with my shipment yet.

Weren't the Dukes of Hazard from Georgia? Why aren't they driving the truck? What is The Bandit up to these days? We need faster drivers!

Almost made a thread asking about 18mm RMS till I searched TRF for a bit.

IT IS SO ON :)

Finished off an Estes Photon Disruptor yestreday and got a coat of primer on it today.

Went into the build pile and pulled out my next project....a Black Star Voyager.

Wow theres a lot of balsa in this kit:eyepop: Looks like a large tub of Elmers F'n'F is in my future.

Also placed an order with Sirius for a couple of mid-power kits and some AT SU E-20-4 motors.

BSV is such a pretty rocket. There are some great BSV build threads with great tips on here.

I was contacted by a local fellow who is trying to put together small launches at a nearby Natl Guard base, so I've been prepping some rockets and locating my launch system so as to join him. This in the San Luis Obispo, Ca area Apr 6 if anyone is interested.

Pulled the trigger on getting some more CTI 54mm hardware. Got an offset attenuator kit in the mail for RDF and will be overseeing our TARC teams' cert flights this afternoon.

managed to jab my thumb while prepping my dual deploy bird(for hopefully a Saturday launch).

I am finally getting around to fixing damage to “Scourge of the Seas” it suffered back in November.

Ordered a Slimline 54mm Starter Pack.
Checked my order status for Aeropoxy ES6209 from PTM&W (not impressed with them at this point).

Will Do !

Just started mine, will be interesting to see the contrast in construction . Also Hardline is the Felix to my Oscar . . .

Want the DD option also but am holding out for tracker/GPS first . May have to build a Cable Cutter and to Hybrid Motor/Electronic Deploy - jury is still out !

Yesterday was a quick session for me. Did a light sand, quick mask and 1st primer on new Vindicator Vent Band . Then grab nose cone repair and sanded 2nd coat of filler primer - seemed smooth so shot with White Finish primer . Need a Forged ? Eyelet ?for 5" Jart NoseCone to move it along to the next step.

With all of the electronics in the nosecone of my stock sized Jart, it weighed 10.4# on the pad. I recovered with a 66" military surplus chute and sustained a semi-cracked fillet and a bent fin. I'd recommend an 84" chute (or equivalent) or larger.

With all the pic's I have seen of your work area, I get what you mean with the Felix/Oscar reference. I have a bunch of forged eyebolts that are the correct size for the 5" Jart. If you come over for Spring Blast, I will give you one for free!

Thanks for that info. I think you are the first person to post up a flight report on this rocket. We probably won't get a chute until we can weigh the assembled rocket, but at least now I have a ball park estimate to work with.

Today Sharon and I worked on mounting a K&S avbay in the N/C of the Squat. I cut out a bulkhead with a 38mm hole offset to put the avbay up against the collar so we can vent it properly. Sharon is assembling the sled and marking where she wants the U-bolt mounted.
We plan to mix up some foam this evening and do the nose weight/avbay/bulkhead in one shot.

I put the finishing touches on 3 of my projects: a new Quest Aerospace One, a new Semroc Blue Bird Zero and a refinishing job on an ancient (20 yrs old?) NCR Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, my skills as a photographer leave much to be desired.

Soldered together an offset attenuator kit. Watched TARC students launch about 9 times (4 cert flights) in some of the best weather all season. Called up Wildman to change an order; fielded a return call from Jackie and am now doing the UPS tracking page refresh until it gets here! :D

QUOTE] Very nice finish on them thar birds.
I think your ready to move on and try some other colors.

Today I sprayed the last coat of paint on the LOC Iris that I started building more than 5 weeks ago. There are two versions of this rocket; this is the 29mm version. I didn't use any of the decals that came with the kit. Instead I painted with a Sandhawk paint scheme. This is 6 coats of primer and 3 coats of color with wetsanding between color coats. I was planning to clearcoat it but changed my mind since it's already pretty shiny.
