I have to say, this kit reminds me of my annoyance with Estes when they go cheap... All these markings that could have easily been decals, but... NO.... They give colors, but only a fraction of the markings in the paint guide.

I'm almost done with printing. I'm going to try to get the rocket construction started tomorrow, while the nosecone and intakes print. Neither are critical for assembly of the business end. It won't be the lightest rocket, but it will be the strongest brick outhouse at the field. I'm going to start on decals next.

My wife wanted a bunch of benchies and I have given all of mine away, so I had to spin up some more.

There's something I can't quite make out with this kit... On the intake, the instructions seem to indicate that there it is not flat, but with a very wide and shallow mountain fold.. On the scans of the part, I see no indication of a crease for that fold, but there are creases for the other folds.

The bottom face of the scoop is flat, no ridge crease.

I still have to tweak the decals a bit but I think I'm about done with my parts prep. I'll be starting my build thread tomorrow and link it here. Thanks, @cwbullet! You completely derailed my Big Nuke Dukem build. I'm not complaining, though because this has been exceptionally fun. I also tweaked the BND design based on this. It really has helped me stretch my skills in design, Fusion 360 and OpenRocket.

EDIT: All of this was done with Fusion 360.

Just came across this and it sounds fun! I have 2 of these kits sealed and can kind of see the scoop card in one...might have to open it up!

A request to anyone with the actual kit... I could really use a higher quality scan (with a ruler for scale) of the decals than what I have already (300 DPI).

I'd like to be able to read what the text says under the DANGER oval-in-rectangle decal.

Also... There's the white "Payback Time" decal that is really hard to spot...

Perhaps for the white only decals ("Payback Time", and the rectangle with "CAUTION"), if someone is not going to use them, they could be applied to a black background and scanned (with a ruler for scale) on that.

Thanks!
Jim

You did something to make non parallel sides on the scoop? Or something with the decals?

Ps when I get home I’ll take a peek and make some better guess.

First day with OpenRocket! Might try to figure out the scoop tomorrow :)

NICE JOB!!!

Why is it that people from the Rogue Valley are such gluttons for punishment? Attempting to use pods on your first sim... I can tell you, it's a challenge.

We'll have to get together when I get back. Is Abby's Pizza still there? Of course, there's the chance you're one of my cousins (or my uncle)(or my mom)(grandma, grandpa, and great grandma are not options, unless of course you're a ghost).

Thanks! Yep, Abby's is still there...would be great to get together some time.
I wish ORK would let you import an STL because I used Tinkercad to prototype my scoop.
