It's a lot of fun, I just go out looking for dirt roads and get lost on it..

Plus I don't have to polish it.

Anyway, back to rockets.

Secured some non-rocket things in the car, so they don’t damage the rockets and rocket things on my 2hr drive tomorrow.
And I was able to fit the cooler in the Volvo, so I will have refreshments for sale for those who come to dalzell tomorrow. :)

I guess if the garage is used for something truly productive, that is used on a nearly daily basis, it makes sense on some level. But it would seem more logical to build a "shop", and use the garage, as a garage.

For most folks, vehicles are probably the 2nd most expensive purchase they make. Many folks pile their garages full of useless crap, and leave their expensive vehicles out in the elements?
Gotta have the property to build a shop, not all lots are big enough due to set backs and other regulations and codes.

Pulled the fillets on my first minimum diameter HPR build. Fins were tacked on with Devcon, the fillets were made with West Systems Six10. I'm mainly using Loc materials: 2.2" tubing, Loc NC and Loc av bay, but the four fins are custom I made some time ago. I'll reinforce with FG lay up. The finished project will be broadly similar in appearance to an ARCAS. Planning to fly it on 1 grain 54s - I have a CTI I165 C Star lined up for it.

I'm planning some mods, but not that much! 😉

Also note that you've posted a pic of the newer version, which is rounder. I was actually considering getting some European foam kit closer to that and converting it to a rocket, but it seems like too much trouble and money.
Tried some possible mods for Dragon Rocketry 4" Colonial Viper using a Starblazer X-20 canopy (I always felt the canopy on the viper rockets were a bit mis-proportioned) and trying some side strakes to perhaps widen the middle a bit...

I really like the canopy, but may try something else on the sides.

Awesome

Put two coats of white on the Green Eggs and Mercury Redstone. Got a couple of small runs in the paint on the Redstone so I'll have to do some sanding after giving the paint a couple of days to cure. Currently finishing up the PSII booster for the Majestic. My first foray into epoxy on rockets, but I am used to working with it on my RC model airplanes, so no biggie.

I really should step away from building and go launch my first rocket this weekend.

Hung out with the kids while they worked on their rockets. We now have all 3 of our new mid-power cardboard/balsa designs ready for paint. Started narrowing down battery choices for a new avbay. Picked up our travel trailer from the storage room to start getting it ready for NSL.

First. The first time I saw a BSG Viper I said to my self, Where do they keep the fuel. Three rocket motors that are also air breathing and no place for fuel. Looked cool though.

Today, well my today is your yesterday. I finished the big whing rocket. It's a 3" LOC BT and it's 29" long. The wing span is 26". Weighs 44 ounces with a chute. It has a 38mm x 9" mmt. I balanced it with an I 175, that it will never see. Gave myself plenty of margin. I put 4 ounces of BB's and JB 5 minute Clear Weld in the nose cone. The nose cone is half of a 3" clear plastic fillable ornament. I have some from 29mm up to 4". Come in very handy for missiles and such. I believe nose cone design limits my rocket design. So I'm always on the look out for something new to use. Besides the plastic ornament I have used paper machie cones, Styrofoam balls and now trying the blue foam. Where was I? The wings and stabilizers are 1/4" plywood. The fillets are PC Super Epoxy. I can do all the fillets at once on a regular rocket. This time I did the top and then the bottom. I modeled it after the Iranian Shahed 136 Drone. I call it Putin's Folly. I first painted it aluminum. Then I was going to mist white over it. Was going for a metallic looking surface. Didn't like the look. Now its just white.20230519_153926[2463].jpg

Everything is just too round... needs more of a chiseled look. And add some laser cannons. A star fighter without laser cannons is just.. a space taxi.

Depending on the climate in one's location, "out in the elements" may not be doing the car any harm. And then keeping it indoors seems like a waste. Why build a shop when you've already got a shop named Garage?

Yes, do that. :)

I like that swoopy ring fin job off to the right.

That goes for probably more than 90% of cool looking SciFi vehicles.
