I know it is. My problems is that my wife is incredibly thoughtful and insightful, and I am not nearly her equal in these areas. If she ever mentions that she wants something, I've never noticed it, but she's already taken my good leather jacket that I haven't worn for several years, had the zipper repaired and even had it re-dyed so it looks like new. all weeks before Valentines (and our wedding anniversary next month). But me? I put up some decorations in the bathroom and the hallway coming out of the bedroom and sent her a funny "card" by email. This afternoon I'll pick up a paper card in the way home and maybe some dinner (both of us hate crowds so neither of us really want to go out to eat). It isn't that I mind spending money on her, its just that I have no idea what to get her and I don't think there's a cure for cluelessness.

I got you covered Peartree. Here is what you need:

1) A few pieces of some good chocolate like Lindt truffles. They have tons of flavors of them at Krogers. They come in very colorful bags. Take out a few and put them on your nightstand.

2) Some body oil, mineral oil works fine too. If you have any hotel size lotion or shampoo bottles empty one out and fill it with oil. Put some water in a coffee cup and heat it in the microwave. Don’t fill the cup and don’t boil the water; just get it hot. Put the small bottle in the cup to warm up.

3) Get a clean sheet and pull back the bedspread and sheets and put the new sheet on the bed. This will get any oil that spills and you won’t need to change the sheets.

4) Grab a heavy robe or washable blankets.

Give her a hot oil massage. Put the oil on your hands to make sure it isn’t too hot. Rub her shoulders, up and down her spine, lower back and her feet. Use the robe/blankets to keep those areas not currently being massaged covered and warm. Use a space heater in the bedroom to warm it up if you want (it is Ohio after all). Give her a piece of chocolate every so often.

Have her show you where the washing machine is and then wash the sheet, robe, blanket that you got oil on.

Repeat next year.

Gave my wife a card this morning. She said, "Woops, I forgot all about it." So there.

That happened to me once, but it was for the relatively minor "Sweetest Day" in October. I don't think it's much of a thing outside of the Great Lakes region for historical reasons (basically local candy companies tried to create a Hallmark Holiday, it didn't catch on nationally, but it persists here to this day). Since my wife is from southern Indiana she was unfamiliar with it until I made it known.

Ah! Tommorow? Thanks for the reminder. I will get Bracha something nice to cheer her up. She was acting odd all day yesterday and treating me like I had forgotten something important.
