Here in the DFW, we have been ICED in for a couple days. I woke up this morning and deciced to make a quick (1 day) LPR build.

Build Materials: 16" x 1.3" ID tube - BT
1/8" balsa sheet - Fins
2x 1x2" 10" length balse - NC
1/4" x 36" braided Elastic - Shock Cord
Old Igniter tube - Launch Lug

Estes Motor Tube, Centering Ring, and Motor Clip purchased at HobbyTown

Started by gluing up the balsa for a nose cone. This is the first time I used end plates of plywood to hold it better in the lathe. THAT WORKED GREAT!

nice work, I wish I could turn a nosecone or at least had the equipment to try.

I am still in the learning phase of turning nose cones. The wood is much softer than wood I've historically turns.

With each one I learn a little more, like gluing end plates to the block being turned. Also, on this one, I went with very minimum sanding. Too much sanding, and it will not be round.

This Sunday at the DARS rocket launch, this SNOW-DAY project had it's maiden flight on a B4 in 16 mph winds. Other than the very long walk, it was a thing of beauty...

After a few successful flights, I believe it has earned its paint. And, I hate to paint. ImageUploadedByRocketry Forum1402416724.649921.jpg
